There is one exception, though. Usually, a publisher can test a release candidate of the game and demand bug fixes from the developer. Half Life 2 also went through several release candidates before Vivendi deemed it in a good enough shape, if I remember correctly.
However, EA is known to...
I had a quick look through the SDK.
It's incredible. Half of the Doom3 source code is in there, including all of the physics code and all of the AI code.
Somebody with a lot of free time could do amazing things with this.
For a second I thought I arrived late, as this thread is already 20 pages. But it seems that everything happened in less then 2 hours. LOL!
Anyway: W00T !!!!!!!!
I don't care about the SP, as long as they stay truthfull to the RTCW/ET style of objective based multiplayer. With some extra gameplay goodies perhaps.
Sadly, this sort of thing happens everytime a new, huge, hyped game title appears. There are some people that enjoy stirring up controversy by talking crap about other people's favorite game.
IMO, the best way to deal with this is to not reply at all or only with this -> :rolleyes...
That seems to be just the regular 6800.
By the way, those videocards are extremely overpriced. Here are the prices in US dollars:
I know that hardware prices are high in Europe, but this is ridiculous!
You should easily be able to find a store with cheaper prices.
When a PC in CS:S flies across the room, the server communicates only the position, the angles and the speed of the flying PC. The client receives the position of the PC and since the client already knows what the PC looks like, it can draw the PC at its correct position with the correct angles...
Exactly. Shadows are only projected on flat surfaces like the walls and the floor. That's a lot easier then for example projecting the shadow of that desktop computer in the first pic onto an irregular shaped object such as that office chair. A heck of a lot of computations are needed to get...
Those screenshots are pointless. Any game looks like that when you take 1024x768 screenshots of a wall that's one inch away from you. No wonder you consider this game 'a let down' if you ignore all the nice scenery and purely focus on examining texture quality.
Eh....???
A six months delay for a game that's practically finished?
I just can't imagine that could ever happen. And if it does, I hope Valve can at least use this time to distribute a huge demo to keep the fans happy.
My thoughts exactly.
I think next week is a bit too soon for a gold anouncement. Even if Vivendi has dozens of testers, it's a big game and it has to be tested on a variety of hardware and with lots of different settings. I assume the final testing on the RC would take at least two weeks...
Me, and I assume the vast majority of the people here, prefer reviews from international sites. I can't read any of the reviewers' conclusions when the site is not in English. And why pick a non-english review when there are literally dozens of english reviews available? Perhaps because most of...
