ASUS have let themselves down on quality with there motherboards, they used to be fairly good. Wouldnt buy an ASUS board right now, not so great at ocing because their bios is shit house, boards arent very stable either. EDIT: If u want to get a new board how much are you prepared to spend?

Most safe methods of removing the paste will work fine, even wiping it off with a tissue/cloth will do fine. Alcohol works as well.
