Wait.. the west doesn't see duck suitable for eating? Duck meat is probably one of the most tastiest meats, gosh, not to mention Lunar New Year is round the corner. Never had dog or cat before though, not really planning to.

If you believe China holds no value on individualism, then neither does the US nor any other country out there. The last time I checked there is a Miley Cyrus craze somewhere and Fox news still exists.

Learn the difference between individualism and propaganda. What is valued is not the same as what was taught and told. Get some lessons, Chinese people aren't some mindless walking living being that cannot have a difference in opinion amongst each other.

I'm not saying they can't be divided into smaller, more distinct groups. As much as it offends you to be put in the same group as those dirty nippons, the continent does share an overwhelming amount of genetic traits and trends. It's basically a "greatest common factor" list, one that probably has grievous errors, but not for the reasons you selected.

Hmm, perhaps. I was thinking more along the lines of 'culture' rather than 'genetic', because genetically speaking, humans shouldn't be divided into races, but rather one race.

Stupid ****ing law, trust China to **** it up. If they introduced regulatory laws to improve the conditions at the slaughterhouses, by all means do that. But ban it altogether? Eating dog is no worse than eating cow or pig.

I prefer them to make a law that ban the consumtion of animals on the verge of extintion like tigers and sharks

but nooo lets ban dog eating so they look nice to the foreign investors

I was in China recently and ate the following meat.

Donkey meat
Dog meat
Rabbit meat

Donkey meat is very very delicious. Dog meat wasn't that good, was heavily flavoured so it kind of tasted like salami. Lots of very interesting meats to eat there.

You can actually lead a pretty normal life in today's China. Sure, you can't go about handing out flyers about Tibet, the Falun Gon or something like that, but if you don't actively oppose the regime you don't have much to fear. Obviously those who do oppose it are heroes, but the society isn't as closed as it used to be.

Yeah no shit I'll get in trouble. You'll get in trouble in many places if you disagreed with the government out loud. Except in some places or some parts of country, you'll get murdered by civilians and not cops.

China may be strict against people who go against their government, but in no way does that mean Chinese people don't value independence. Like I said, there is a difference between what is told and what is valued.

While the whole idea of considering humanity to be indivisible is quite noble and charming, the fact of the matter is there is an endless amount of genetic division. It's not racist to place people into categories; it only becomes racist when you judge a person's past or future based on that category. Correct term would be subspecies, but ethnicity will do. Race is being used as a substitute for the term, although it is technically incorrect.
