Hi everyone.
I started a map, and then decided to make it into a series of maps.
It's about the seven hour war, or duing it. It's a single player mod.
I'm not a pro mapper, I consider myself average.

Nonetheless I'm gonna go on.
Right now my mod's standalone.
I found some free online custom models, which replaces a few standard hl2 models / textures etc.
I have the first map as good as done.
All I need now are a few beta testers for the map(s).

I made a small video with the latest build here:

So I hope there's a few gamers out there wanna help me out.

Looking good. This is the right kinda mod...

not a Vietnam multiplayer class based ranked online mod. D:

nice work!

so are you doing the mapping and coding all by yourself on this one?

Thanks Shinobi, well from all the info I can get I think I have a good impression of how it could happen. And as KineticAesthetic said it, that's the whole idea, creating a singleplayer mod which is in the same universe of the original.

There's very little to no coding at all, cause I can't ;) But the mapping is done all by myself, plus some new sound effects and textures.

Anyway here's a new extended version of my clip:

ohh and by the way, I think you're the same person who replied on my post over at hlfallout fprums, if thats so, then we could have a nice talk about it.

Let me hear some of your ideas and what not.
I got allot of ideas and I could use the help if it gets offered to me :)
I'll be putting up a small webste and forum soon when I get my internet fixed at home so you guys get a good idea of what else I got planned. for now I'll leave it at this.

Peace

Definitely coming along. Naturally the maps need some prettying up still, but it's progressing!

The only thing that really stood out as being horrible is the few "outdoor" shots (balcony, windows), the cityscape looks unnaturally and rigidly symmetrical.

Hey guys, thanks.
I've got a pretty nice update I think.
Redone all outside buildings, plus allot of new custom textures.
They a bit rough, but im no pro artist, tho I think they do the job
of making HL2 not so decaded looking.

got new screens here:

not bad, one thing I'd recommend off the top of my head is to make sure that furniture casts shadows, otherwise it looks like it's floating

It looks a promising mod. But I think there can be a bit improvements to make it looks pro. The textures and environments need a bit spicing up. There should be more details on the environment. Such as pictures on the wall, furniture, electric wires and pipelines, some posters, graffiti and blood stains, or any new interesting things you can think of. Also, I think it will be better if there are less zombies(less fast headcrabs esp) but more signs of "what's happened" in the beginning.

The design is great and I love the axe.

p.s. ya, cast shadow.

Thanks for the feedback. It's a fine line i'm walking in to how I'm gonna give the player a challenge, since the map started out to be just one map I thought use enemies to give it a challenge, but now that I think of it, the rest of the areas should be allot less ocupied then others ... thanks for making me realize that, since I can spice up the battles later on.

props wise, I'm always checking out if theres no props ive missed i could use, I've got no custom ones, and can't create them myself. plus, most of the indoor props of hl2 are old or worn out, which i dont need. :p I wish i could learn to make em but I don't have the time since I do this for fun. I'm borowing a digital photocamera so I can make some custom textures, like mentioned posters etc. from my screens you can't see much of the stains and other stuff I did use since I don't want to give away the whole map, specially since I'm still revamping allot of it.

I'm gonna do more then my best to try and pull it up to a more proffesional standard, and I thank any who'r helping sofar. :)

Yes, gonna work on those shadows thnx :p

I have to say I like the idea of someone hiding in his appartment, etc. I hope this turns out good. :)

I've been writing a couple of templates up for PlanetPhillip which are aimed at single-player mods. You and your Beta Testers might find these checksheets useful:

Single-player mod testplan templates (link lasts 7 days)

They are in MS Excel format, but can also be read in OpenOffice.

Hi everyone.
I'm bumping my thread here.

I've set up a small website http://www.freewebs.com/deranger/index.htm

Also I have created a topic on my forum going more into the mod itself my ideas and where im heading etc. please feel free to talk along.

Peace

well i have to say... never saw any street in real life where every inch was the same

can also help test if you want me to. my steam community page is http://steamcommunity.com/id/nagash-sama and can add me on steam from there, or can email me at nagash-sama@(((hotmail)).co.uk ... remove the brackets obviously :D

Hey nagash, I mailed you already, don't know if you got it.

Well, I have a small updated video showing some ingame stuff.
I'm trying to get rid of my blocky-ness in the maps.

Still have quite allot to learn, but I am very pleased myself as to where it's heading.
I've created a section over at mod database

1187 on MODDB

Been hearing from a few ppl it that it looks so clean.
I have to say that where I live buildings etc are actually clean.
And I was going for a clean look, since almost any other game has to have broken down buildings or props in it, I really don't mind that at all.
Just figure I do something different but things will get broken down as the game progesses.
