120 suicides a week - Iraq/Afghan vets

120 suicides a week? So how many in a year?

So ... 120(suicides)x1(week)x12(months in a year)x4(more years of us over there)=23,000 some.

Right. 120 suicides a week? How did they average that median?

Conventiently, I say.

Is there a link to 66% of veterans being bums?

Otherwise, i don't believe it because my cousin got benefits and retirement and has a nice house.

120 a week? seems high ..wonder what the number of Iraqi suicides there are per week ..I'm sure since the US invasion suicide rate in iraq skyrocketed

the most popular methods of Iraqi suicide:

jacket made of dynamite
running towards a US checkpoint
running away from a US checkpoint
walking slowly towards a US checkpoint hands held in the air, waving a white flag, singing god bless america, with pregnant wife and 3 children under the age of 3 following closely behind

That would be the one I'm most suspicious of.

I see your Artificial Headline Statistic and raise you BullShit.

Let's contact Guinness.

Nah, WW2 the japanese commited suicide more than any other war.

Thousands every week would kamikaze or hold grenades and run into a mass of Marines and blow them away. Iraq is nothing compared to WW2 and vietnam.

Did anyone else read this and think, what the ****?

I'm well versed in statistics but I don't see wtf you are trying to do.

Suicide? Nah - they're just so full of freedom they need to let it out some how.

What's going on? Probably Bush both starting wars and cutting money intended for programs that assist veterans with everything from medical bills to job placement and PTSD counseling. There's really no way for me to joke about it, it's all too real to me - I have family fighting this rich mans oil war and who knows what his fate will be when he returns.

The number was 120 suicides per year for all vets. That means it includes your grandfather who fought the Germans and doesn't want to slowly die of cancer at age 85. (there is going to be a big demographic of WW2 and Vietnam vets because of the draft). The actual rate is only double the national standard or 0.032% for 2005.

120 per year of all vets? That seems like an extremely low rate. I mean that's probably not much higher of a rate than the general public.

You missed the point. 120 suicides a week right? 120x4 weeks for a monthx12months in a yearx6-7 years of additional time over there equals what?

An unrealistic figure at best, meant more to insinuate an emotional response concerning the war, instead of a rational one, where we can see the suicide rate as a fallacy meant to dubiously curb beliefs about the war or our military competency.

A story on CBS... CBS is MSM and I don't believe anything the MSM spew these days.
