I've been running HL2 in the aformentioned resolution with no performance loss compared to when I was running it at 1024x768. Only difference is that I hardly get stutters now. However I did have to turn wait for VSynch on as I was getting some waves in my textures when I was strafing.

Just thought I'd mention it.

I want an LCD screen big enough to do that....

:| Explain to me why the 1280 x 1024 has that "(LCD)" next to it? Is it because LCD's native reso is 1280 x 1024? What's the deal?!?

Yeah, it's because of the native resolution. I think it's also in a 5:4 instead of a 4:3 or something.

I'm not sure about the "LCD" part myself.
But I have a normal CRT monitor and I run it on 1280x1024 (LCD). No performance probs.

My lcd's native resolution is also 1280x1024, but I play in a 1024x768 window. I doubt my pc will be able to cope at the native resolution.

1280x1024 is the native resolution on my wonderful 19" BENQ LCD...and it runs excellently :D

IM getting a few waves in my textures, running at 1024x768 on my 17" LCD, how can i get rid of them

Its for people who doesnt know what resolution their TFT screeen is running, they see the lcd option and they take that because they think its for lcds only but its just to underline that 1280x1024 is best for flatscreens. I have a G420 19" sony CRT and I like 1280x1024 best.

stutters = loss of performance.

Jimmo, turn on vsync. That's called tearing.

Im using an ATI 9800 pro, and in the ATI tray tool there is an option saying "Wait for VSync" and its set to Always off, this is the only think i can find on VSync, can anybody help me?
