15 mins of Red Alert 3

seen half of the HD one, the rest is loading. So far i got to say its not bad, but still its not what i expected of a red alert game. As said before, color scheme is way off. I dont like the new harvesting system, but i kind of like the new building system. Its good that they kept the side bar, but i dont see the reason to have the power bar at the lower left corner...why not also make it a sidebar like the prequels? I love that its more amphibious too, which i think its a great idea. Movement animation and physics looks great too.

My major complaint is that its too futuristic...Red Alert took place about the same time as WW2 (with some minor futuristic concepts) and im guessing RA2 was around the 60s-70s (with some minor futuristic concepts), but this looks like its in 2050s with ALL futuristic concepts. Wtf are the soldiers wearing those super high-tech suits? Wheres the damn plain normal soldiers/conscripts? And the buildings looks way to futuristic, especially compared to the civilian surroundings...

Major positive thing is the sounds, i notice that most of it are from RA2 (Luitenant Sofia) and the units responses which i love. I think EA deserves a few slaps on the face and fix these problems, other than that, they actually have done a good job. Lets just hope the story doesnt fail...

EDIT:

OK WTF is up with those robots at the end? jesus ****ing christ...

What have they done?!!?!?

Urgh. Cartoony, bubbly ugliness, I really miss the industrial grittiness the previous C&Cs had.

They're all from RA2 or YR (at least the Lt voice and all the unit responses) They're placeholders.

Either that or EA are really, really lazy

oh heck yes.

The color scheme doesn't seem to far fetched from the schemes in RA2.

I'll definitely be picking this up.

Looks fun. I'll definitely pick this up.

Although WTF at those robots at the end O_o

Damn, that looks so ****ing shitty.

Pretty graphics, but what the **** @ everything else.

Looking good. I actually hope they keep the old voices in the final version.

Commencing shock therapy!

RA2 is completely unrelated to anything happening in the C&C storyline. And thank gods for that.

I mean, just how stoned do you have to be to conclude that Red Alert is a happy, not serious approach to war?

I think it looks pretty awful. None of the units look very uninteresting and it looks like much of the micro management of resources has been removed.

The only C+C EA did a good job of was Generals + Zero Hour, Non of the units where to over the top and there where no mega units which which made it great for coming up with proper stratagies rather then just coping out with one mega unit that kills all.

I wish Westwood was still about, they knew how to make a proper C+C game.

To me the graphics looked bland and the units boring :(

Can't you see how funny they are? Bear shooting boats, giant Japaneese robots with beams from their eyes!
Seriously, Red Alert universe is FUBAR.

An EA employee using the words "capitalist pigs"? lolwut?

Hell I enjoyed it. I mean computer-gaming war is very very silly and I tire very quickly of the grimness of war thing that everybody seems to enjoy.

Yeh this toonish outlook on war would be an interesting breath of fresh air on the usual horrific, industrailised outlook on war games.

I'm not sure but I think RA1 was mid to late 1940s and RA2 was 1950s/1960s, but I'm not sure. I agree with you on the futuristic crap though.

Looks waaay better then the screenshots! Man i cant wait.

God damn it Grizzly you correct me every time D=

Just watched this trailer. It's barely like C&C anymore! If this is what C&C3 is like, I might not buy it. It's far too like Age of Empires.

But it looks so awesome at the same time :(

Eh, RA3 looks about as boring as RA2 was. I loved the first one, but I found the second one lacking in so much fun.
