At this year's Game Developers Conference, Sony showed off a short trailer revealing God of War 2, the sequel to what many cite as the best game of last year. Now, with Sony getting ready to unleash the sequel at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in May, we went to the new director on the game, Cory Barlog -- replacing well-known director David Jaffe, who is supervising the new game in the role of creative director -- for an exclusive first look at what we can expect from the upcoming sequel, set to hit stores in February of next year.

1UP: What's the spiel -- the one minute version?

Cory Barlog: You're Kratos, you've just killed Aries, and now you're living with the Gods -- the backstabbing Gods. So you're learning what it's like to deal with all of that. You end up getting betrayed, fight from the arms of death, and have to seek out the sisters of fate to actually return to that time when you got betrayed.

Havnt played the 1st part but i really want to. Going to wait till i get my PS3 to play these games.

You could just buy a ps2 now, it's the perfect time, all the great games are 20,- or less. And that should keep you busy for a couple of years untill you play them all out, and by that time the ps3 will be a lot cheaper, a lot of the issues will be resolved. If you buy a ps3 when it comes out, you pay way top much plus you know it will have some nasty glitches, hell it's probably gonna blow up and kill you.
 
Wow, This game looks AWSOME! I will have to read the interview later.
 
I hope there's more along the lines of replayability this time around. I'd like a system like Ratchet & Clank games have (more weapons and things to unlock and upgrade the 2nd time through with an additional point system that adds a fun challenge to the game) or at least like DMC has where you go through the harder difficulty's with your equipment and upgrades from the last time you played.

lol. I dont like waiting for things like console prices. Thing is i have like 10+ pc games i still need to play so getting a ps2 right now will be overload. :eek:

exactly it would have been great to atleast use the 'Blades of Athena' on a repeat playthrough in GOW.

Hahaha! That is pretty far from happening seeing as its developed by Sony...

And have no fear, this series will inevitably land on the PS3 one day. :thumbs:

The first one was amazing and this one looks to beat it in every way!! E# can't come too soon!

God of war is only the greatest ps2 game ever, and now one of my favourite games of all time. Pure pure pure sheer awesomeness times 10.

I cannot emphasize how much this game kicks ass.
 
It's too bad that God of War doesn't look like it will go the GTA/Prince of Persia route and become avaliable on the PC. The original, and now the sequel, look like they should be on every gamer's must play list.

I must agree, I recently borrowed it from a friend and its probably the best action game i have ever played. Pure quality from start to finish and the fights are insane.
 
the first one was great and one of the best games ever
so,, i am looking forward to this one

God I loved that weapon. I loved chopping guys in half and watching them fly through the air into a huge pool of their own blood. This game can't come any sooner. Need. It. Now. Dammit.

That was the Blade of Artemis. Not Athena's Blades.
