2 alyx's error - please help

during the entanglement chapter, right before i go through the double doors where the lights go out and tons of combines come flying in, there is a loading screen. There is already one alyx with me, and when the loading screen is done, another alyx apears, so i now have two alyxs with me, and one of them is unarmed, so she keeps dying too easily and i can't get any further in the game. does anyone know of a patch, fix, or trick to stop this from happening? Thanks for anything you can tell me.

this was just in another thread. i had this problem too, solution was to trap one alyx (the one that wasnt supposed to be there) and go on.
