2004 Summer Olympics

Roughly 1 week away from the start of the Summer Olympics, i would like to know what pple here think of the Olympics in general and how closely u follow em.

when i was younger, i did watch them and followed some of the games but in recent years its mainly gone downhill for me mostly because of all the drug scandals and bribes which have come out.

once the Olmypics had a special thing about them.. over the years these games have lost that special thing and more or less become a big joke.

they were never anything too special here in Canada and the US.. so perhaps i am more interested in hearing from those living around the world on the Olympics.

I only watch the running, most often long distance...because it make me feel good when I watch others run until they can't breathe, and I get to sit on a couch and watch

I used to like watching the gymnastics stuff. I'll probably watch again this year if I don't forget. I watched the 2002 winter olympics obsessively because my sister was always watching it, and staring at the tv was more interesting than doing homework.

Summer olympics are not as goo' as zee veenter ones, but I'll prolly watch some. The gymnastics stuff is prolly the most interesting. Now, zee veenter ones, I watch those quite a bit.

the football is always good. shame england can't enter a team. if they did, it would have to be a British side, meaning they'd have to pick a team from each country (england, ireland, scotland, wales), which is difficult to say the least.

i remember angus deaton's example a few years ago:

"here's my idea for a british football team: most of the team would be made up of english players, wales would contribute ryan giggs, and scotland would contribute alex ferguson. as for the name, well i was thinking of combining them. we'd take the 'Eng' from England, and the 'land' from Scotland, so...Eng-Land..brilliant."

other events are cool too. i like the field events like javelin and shotputt.
