I figured a new thread is warranted, rather than using the one asking about who is going to vote.

Here you can discuss the ongoing results of the election.

That being said... I'm excited because they are saying the democrats might take the house, if not already. This is very big thing for me. I'm hoping they take the senate too, as it is such a close call.

The big reason for me changing the way I vote compared to last time? Frusteration, dissapointment. And my cousin who has joined the marines. I want change when it comes to the iraq war, and future wars... hopefully none, so that he stands as low a risk as possible of being sent into combat. I no longer want to risk people who are pro war.

EDIT: As of this update, the three needed states for senate have democrats in the lead slightly. I'm going to be heading to bed now, and when I wake up hopefully they stay that way. Could be days, maybe even weeks before we see any final defininitive results though cause of recounting if they do it :(

Well Democrats took the House (YAY)

Senate is unbelievably close 49-49 right now. Here's to hoping Democrats take it too

I figured the dems would get the house, so that's good.

Now I'm just crossing my fingers for the senate.....I would love nothing more than a dem congress to put a very large wrench in the works for Bush.

Though I suppose if that happens we're all going to die....according to Bush. Oh noes.

Monday:

Bush: "However they put it, the Democrat approach in Iraq comes down to this: The terrorists win and America loses"

Wednesday:

"President Bush, disappointed with the election results, will hold a news conference on Wednesday to urge his opponents to work with him, the White House said."

I can't wait to hear what he's going to say...probably along the lines of: "Oh, haha...I was just kidding guys, really. We can all get along now right?"

Damn, I'm enjoying today.

If they take the senate I can't wait to see some investigations eventually brought onto some of the the people in the whitehouse, Mr Dick Cheney in particular.

Well, Ned Lamont apparently took a beating, which, of course is good.

Should we be worried that the country is so split? It seems everything is 50/50 as far as the elections go. Sort of makes me worried when you realize that the country is split in two and not unified.

it's always been like that - it's a 2 party system

I just don't remember them being so evenly matched. In the past, I thought it was like 70/30 victory and not all these 49/50 victories, etc.

Most Republicans stay loyal to their party, regardless of how badly they f*ck up.

Oh come on Democrats.

****ing idiot Americans, it pisses me off so bad that 49% of you are idiots responcable for so much damage, there's idiots in the UK too, but our government are less idiotic.

Hopefully it is a sure sign that more folks are getting out there and voting as opposed to the past where you see the 70/30 split due to the 70 people actually caring and the 30 people not caring what happens. Hopefuly the more even split means more people care now and have woken up to the power in their hands.

There is a large number of republicans that voted democrat this time around.

I'm amazed how close texas came to getting a democrat governor. it was like 30% for dem, 39% for republican. 18% for one of the independants, 13% for another, and 1% for the last Libertarian.

I mean... that's incredible for texas.

"I thought we were gonna be fine yesterday --- Shows what I know"

LOL

This thread could do without your trolling, solaris..

It's true. It's absolutely unblelievable that anyone could vote Republican after what they have done over the last two terms.

Republicans have got hammered in this forum in the past, the republican argument is very weak and thoose who vote republican have the death of thousands of Iraqis in their hands. Shame on you America.

People have different values and different ways of thinking. When you find yourself in disagreement with people you gain far more by trying to understand them than by thinking them all idiots.

Shame on you America.

American isn't just some big political entity. It's made of people, who hold all sorts of opinion. And as one of those people I really don't appreciate that comment.

America, in an international context - sucks.
As does Britian may I add.

Yet if I said the Middle East, or Islam, in an international context, or any context for that matter, sucks, you'd accuse me of being a racist.

You should feel ashamed for all your idiotic views too. You're just as awful a radical.

Given the choice between Bush and Solaris or any of his idols, it's pretty much a no-brainer...

I've held my own in every debate, and don't feel I've ever really taken a battering here. So which views are you refering to? And how are they as worse as the invasion of Iraq that resulted in 650,000 deaths?

I'm not talking about your views on american politics. I'm talking about your views on everything else! You're a very radical and violence endorsing person.

Just ask almost anybody on these forums. You're a certified crazy.

Just because I'm radical to the left does not mean I am as worse as those who are also radical. I don't endorse violence against civilians, violence is an awful necessity sometimes.

So, with more elaboration please, how am I as worse as the Republican party?

Because commies killed more people than Republicans?

On topic, I believe in victory of Democratic party this year.

schwarzennegar, a republican, won reelection for governor of california easily. then again hes more centrist.

No not really you live in your own little dream world, you dont want to know the truth.

The democrats have the senate. Yep.

It doesn't matter if they're more conservative than your other democrats Miccy... they're still more inclined to work with the democrat agenda than republican agenda, which is a good thing when it comes to getting us out of this war and preventing others.

Thought they'd only get the house.

I did too. I stayed up late watching as it was at 49-49... I was crossing my fingers hoping that when I woke they'd get the senate too.

This is the best thing I could of hoped for to keep my cousin out of harms way. Much better at least when compared to a republican senate and congress.

There's all the other reasons too... but my mind is on the safety of my cousin, as well as the american troops too.
