2008 Games, New Poll

As in worst quality? Because this year kicked ass.

Was that directed at me? I meant most expensive as in I bought more games compared to any other year. It'd be between '08 and '07, anyway, and like I said many of the ones I got last year were pre-08.

For quality I thought it was a decent year, but not amazing. I put a lot of that down to being jaded as hell, though. In related news 2008 was the year that completely killed video game hype for me.

I own none of those, but I've played Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3, and Spore... and hated all 3! Yay for a crappy gaming year! The only thing actually worth buying was the god damn World of Warcraft expansion! And World of Goo!

L4D is fun and great, but from it's hype and to it's release I found it absolutely silly that so many people thought that it would be better (or think that it is better) than TF2.

Funny that, I'm not really sure which one I prefer. Left 4 Dead is by far more original but TF2 lasts longer, but still gets old.

But I voted for Left 4 Dead and Far Cry 2 because they're the only good ones on the list I've played, I haven't played Fallout 3 yet but I still voted for it because it looks so damn good. Nor do I own Red Alert 3 but I'd have voted for it if it was on the list.

Eh? Nothing against L4D, but isn't its entire premise based on its conscious recycling of zombie horror cliche? You could say the co-op implementation is original, certainly, but that doesn't make it 'by far', or even at all more original than a cartoony, comedic, class-based shooter either. Just saying.

I mean, the way you play it. Team-based multiplayer games with classes have been done before. Left 4 Dead introduces lots of new things. (I know, TF2 has more original style and whatnot)

The fact that TF2 wasn't created from scratch does not at once make it unoriginal. The bricks that were shat, and the toys that were thrown from prams, when people first saw what it really looked like are testament to its originality.

The only reason I'm making an issue of it is due to sheer surprise; 'originality' was never something I thought I'd see crop up as a criticism of TF2. Are you two serious?
