21st Birthdays

A friend of mine is having his 21st birthday celebration on Saturday, and it got me thinking of what to do for mine, that would make it more than just another birthday.

Any suggestions?

or you could just wake him up at 9am on his birthday, take him into town to a fancy restaurant and have some lunch, spend the rest of the afternoon mooching around the city centre wandering from each bar drinking cognac and various other posh drinks...round it off by getting him totally drunk, and sending him on a train to edinburgh without any clothes on. he'll never forget it.

no seriously, get him and his G/F a STRIPPER. then you can have some 3some action, which YOU should escalate into a 4some, and anyone else at the party can take it even further. and then videotape it, and make it a halflife2 mod.

OR you could just take him barhopping, most places will give your friend a free shot because it's his bday.

21 is still important. it's when most people are considered as adults. traditionally parents give their kids the keys to the front door when they have their 21st birthday.

well, as far as i understand it...21 is the age when you're considered an adult. when my dad turned 21, he was given the keys to the front door (this was back in the good old days), so he pretty much told me the same story, although they haven't continued the tradition for some reason.

ask your parents, i'm sure they'll know what i mean (i hope).

as for your birthday, you could do what i'm gonna do: i'm gonna take my family out to see a show during the day, have an early evening meal at a swanky restaurant (not nandos), then head off with my mates to the best club we can find and drink myself silly. sounds a bit unimaginative, but i haven't been out on the piss in ages.

aside from that, handgliding is good, and there are also themed weekends in the country. i can't remember exactly now, but one of my mates had his 21st in an isolated country house in bedfordshire. they'd set the place up as a murder mystery, was pretty good apparently. i couldn't go as i was under 18 at the time :/

I piloted a light aircraft around the skies over my county and over my house (got pics ) for my 21st birthday, was a present from my family... loved the experience to bits!

That was nearly a year ago, I'm 22 in a couple of weeks ;(

Like Dedalus said, its a tradition from the good ole days. Obviously people get the front door keys at whatever age now. However, for a lot of people 21 is still considered the age of maturity. When you become a man so to speak.

As for what to do on the 21st Birthday. You can get drunk and stuff if you want, but I would also recomend doing something more active. For instance, bungee jumping and sky diving which people have mentioned, but also you could go on a trip somewhere. Learn to fly a helicopter, go white water rafting or rally driving.
