24: Season 8

wow, can't wait! also is that Freddy Prince in there?? if so there will be too many chicks watching this show now

Is it true this is going to be the last season?

As much as I enoy 24 it really has overstayed its welcome, I too hope it is the last season

Is Bauer's daughter coming back this season? That seems to be the only reason to watch the ****ing show.

Oh BTW that music in the 2nd vid didn't fit at all. God music today ****ing sucks! :flame:

24 is one of my favorite shows but i think thats because i was late to the party and watched seasons 1-3 in a matter of mere days. once my friend started watching 4 with me we also got hooked. i just love the insane amount of action in this show. really makes other action tv shows look dull. like 60% of tv is drama too, at least thats how it feels when i'm browsing

More mediocrity, oh joy.
I'll pass... the last season ended pretty poorly.

I don't know. I found Season 7 to be a consistently strong season, despite a number of inconsistencies and laughable plot decisions along the way. Episodes 5-7 were pretty poor. Episodes 21-23 were slow, though still quite polished. I was so pleased with the finale because it brought the season to an appropriate thematic conclusion. There wasn't a great deal of action or drama in the last 30-45 minutes, sure, but I tend to think that was overshadowed by the strong effort the writer's made with drawing everything, as I said, to a close thematically. Season 7 was 24's strongest season since '1' thematically, I think, and if you watch very closely there's consistent symbolism as well.

I kind of enjoy the show, but HOLY CHRIST COMMERCIAL BREAKS WITH CLOCK TICKING NOISES EVERYWHERE

I hope this is indeed the last season. I enjoyed the show, but America can get attacked so many times before it starts being boring.

I stopped watching after they put Jack on trial. I love how he saved countless peoples lives and they wanted to put him in jail.

I watch it for the Lulz. Knowing it comes from the stinking mawfest that is Fox Television, I can't get behind it's 'by any means necessary' Torture PR BS too much.

ever since the writers strike break, i havent been able to get back into it. shows changed a lot though.

Well it said he only has to survive one more day of something, so should be the last season, I bloody well hope it is anyway. Season 7 was a lot of fun, season 8 looks.... ok I suppose. Bring back Agent Walker tbfh! :D

I like 24 but I also want it to stop! I'm feeling quite similar about house aswell, good but stale (although house always did have awesome finales).

Season 8 is shaping up to be an appropriate final season. I believe it is Kiefer's final year, regardless, anyway. Having said that, I don't think I will be watching if there are any further seasons. I am a big fan of the show - I am willing to look past the glaring inconsistencies and jumping the shark moments - but it is growing stale. Fast. It is a show with with numerous limitations and I'm surprised it has lasted this long. 24 is the second longest running espionage series in television history, behind the original Mission: Impossible series by number of episodes and The Avengers by longevity of broadcast. Season Eight will see the show surpassing both shows in both categories.

I think it's extremely incompetent of them to have failed to mix up the formula for so long.

There's certainly been a great deal of wasted potential and opportunity involved in that.

Out of curiosity, in what manner do you think the show could have spiced up it's formula?

I'm looking forward to Nina coming back as the new villain.

I'm looking forward to Nina coming back as the new villain.

LOL.

And yeh they basically delved into a habit of using the same drama techniques in previous 24's, I mean these government defense agencies have had so many personnel breaches I am surprised they are still running. I think thats why they closed CTU down, 'mole overload'.

It was shut down due to the unorthodox interrogation techniques they utilized. But that certainly works as well.

Off to a fun start.
Glad to see that they're bringing back Renee Walker, mmm.

I wonder what the threat to national security is going to be this time.

Never got into this but saw the premiere since I was bored. It's going to be a good marathon catching up.

Where was Renee Walker in the premiere?

It was ok. I continue to watch just because. It's not a great show by any means, a lot of it is actually pretty laughable. But it is watchable and since I'm 8 seasons in why stop now?

Where was Renee Walker in the premiere?

She was in tonight's episode.( D: @ the end of the ep )
But I saw her in the promo after last night's.

Does anyone else hate the new CTU director? He's pretty much an unreasonable asshole.
Also, I hate Katee Sackhoff's character so far, pointless outside relationship with an abusive ex-boyfriend.

Very, very solid start! Hour 4 ends and thousands of live aren't at risk?

*slaps cheek*

It is fantastic to see 24 deviate from the superficial mentality it has built over the years; the persistent use of WMDs, of course.

There was mention of Uranium in Episode Four but it isn't a bomb or a missile, and from what I've heard and read the assassination attempt will be at the forefront of the show's focus this year, and I am very happy with this.
