Reformatting does what to frames???? Yeah nothing, absolutely nothing, he needs to tweak some more to get the best performance out of the card.

reformatting can help with alot of porblems.

i reinstalled xp this week tho ;(

I had this sort of problem with some games on my old computer. They should, by rights, have run just fine, but they moved like an underwater bicycle. Dunno if this is the same, but it turned out that a good defrag did the trick...

Actually, come to think of it, an underwater bicycle could probably go pretty fast...

Hmmm...

Well not to 15fps, but the question is, did he install the right drivers???

yea i installed these ones i found on a windows 95 floppy, they should be ok yea?

OK. I'm closing this thread... mainly because
1) Ya'll are not really helping mutt
2) Ya'll have expressed some of the poorest knowledge of computers I have ever seen in my life.

This forum is to help people.... please try and help them with /logical/ advice!

Ok mutt:
1) you already know it, but these other people don't.... a 2Ghz CPU 768mb of rasm and an x800 pro *might* bottleneck in say, Far Cry. (but only a 5fps difference at most) It won't however, be a bottleneck in fricking half-life engine games. The specs he has are hundreds of times better than when the game was made! it's not gonna bottleneck here!

2) I think it's just a result of hl sucking in d3d. I'd set it to openGL, make sure vsync is off, and like Mr-Fusion Suggested, "fps_max 99"

If you still can't get anyhting to go right, I suggest pming Asus.

Speaking of Asus...
Asus: if you have something you'd like to add/correct, just pm me, and I'll reply to the thread with what you want to say.
