2nd Presidential Debate (Tonight, Oct. 7) Discussion

Tonight all over the world people will once again be glued to their TV sets watching the two presidential candidates go at it. This should be a particularly interesting one since the attacks have gotten so seemingly desperate of late and the town hall type setting will only add to the potential for fireworks. Both sides will have their hands full to be sure, but I give the advantage to Obama because he is so comfortable in these settings, esp. if he takes off his jacket and rolls up his sleeves. McCain will have difficulty countering Obama's image if this happens. McCain will also have difficulty because he (it is widely known) looks at his political opponents as the enemy and he will not (like a coward) have such an easy time avoiding looking directly at Obama tonight as he did in the more structured first debate.

Anyone else have any other thoughts on what they want to see or think they will see tonight??

(Personally, I would like to see a Kelsey Grammer monent from McCain where he is walking and talking about his maverickyness and he falls right off the stage. Good times. A guy can hope, right? :LOL:)

Obama making a comment about McCain's hairline would be the secret to election success.

Seems like its always McCain doing the lying. After Obama rejects it, McCain shows no interest in backing up his accusation, just shows me how much of a lying weasel he's being.
 
Why slag off a planetarium projector? A planetarium is a pretty nice thing for a community.

McCain DOES NOT refute any of Obama's accusations. Everything McCain accuses him of, Obama refutes. I don't trust this guy at all. He's more of the god damn same.

Obama won. Landslide victory in my opinion.

Neither candidates answered the last question appropriately though, but that's to be understood I guess considering the question.
 
I suppose this means McCain is pretty much screwed.

lol u mean the "yay free time" question? heh I would've talked about dealing with north korea or something but obama did well. mccain went on with some gibberish about generations.

I started playing that one half way in when McCain stopped referring to everyone in the audience as his friends. Hard mode: everytime Obama says "change," take a shot. Everytime Obama says "fundamental change," take two shots.
 
By and large I think this debate was nothing to write home about.

There was one point, though, where I think Obama did something that he's not done at all successfully so far in this campaign, and that was to make McCain look like a total, utter idiot. I mean he really humiliated him. I'm talking about the bit where he brought up the 'bomb iran' thing.

Obama was saying 'McCain would have you believe that I'm a bit green, whereas he's sombre and restrained' to which McCain laughed and said 'thank you very much', apparently forgetting that Obama as talking about what he, McCain, was saying. Obama ignored this, gestured at him, and delivered the punchline - that McCain made songs about bombing Iran, threatened to annihilate N. Korea, and so forth. McCain just stood there like a live exhibit looking awkward, knowing he'd just been caught in both a shitty little smarmy comment and a double standard in about the space of 5 seconds. He looked like a ****ing idiot and you could tell that he felt it.

Barack Obama for president. Gives me a great deal of hope for this country for the first time in 8 years. I couldn't think of a better person in the world to have in office.

McCain reminds me of an evil retarded Yoda and I find it terrifying that he has a chance to be president.
 
I certainly dont think Bush was a decent president at the very most, but I still dont believe Socialism is the way out...
 
Even the Left-leaning politicians in America are a long long way Right of being Socialist... Even probably slightly more Right-wing than the leading parties in Britain, which are like Centrist-Right.

I only caught the last fifteen minutes of the debate, please explain.
 
Obama said that if Pakistan wont help us find bin Laden, then we just need to go in and do it ourselves, consequences be damned.

He said something similar about Iran....
 
I do not...I believe we should wait until Osama strays back across the border into A-stan and then bomb the ever loving hell out of him...
