i want to buy a new 3d-kaart that can run hl-2 at max settings and at a res. of 1024*768.

i also want good fps in stalker and the battle for middle earth;

my budget is around 300 euro. what should i buy ???

300 euro = 300 dollars

300 Euro = 366 Dollars at the moment. Big difference.

Please let us know what the rest of your specs are as HL2 needs a good CPU too (like every modern game :))

my cpu is fine i think P4 3.0 ghz. 1 gig. DDr333 ram , P4C800-e deluxe

that is it :)

id say just get a 9800 pro ($200) save the rest of the money for a later upgrade, this card runs it on high fine for me,and since you have a better comp it will run better

yeah but i want a card that runs hl-2 everything at max with perfect fps in hl-2.

more suggestions??

You nuts ? Wiht 360 USD you can go big league, I would recomend a x800 pro or a 6800 GT.

if you have $360, i would save up another 20-30 bucks, and get an ati x800 pro. they are about 400 retail, but you could probably find one online for 375 or so.

in the store i HAVE to buy the prices are : 6800 NU 400 euro
6800 GT 500 euro
6800 Ultra 600 euro

i MUST buy in this store.

what do you suggest?

i now have a 9700 pro so ugrading to a 9800 pro wont be a big preformance boost. i want a card of the next generation but i dont know what card of the next generation. plz help ?

@ airoke then i have to buy a new mobo and that is to expensive

thx in andvance for more reply's

I would recommend 9800 pro 256mb 256bit or 9800 pro 128mb 256bit
but if you want a 6x00 then you have to take 6600 gt or 6800 LE... but I would still recommend 9800 pro

OK, here goes.

A 6600 GT is noticeably faster than a 9800 Pro, and about US$200 over here. So that would be a good upgrade from a 9700 Pro.

The 6800nu is really the cheapest next-generation card out there, though. See, the 6600 GT is fast, but not radically faster than a 5950 Ultra or 9800 XT. There isn't an ATI counterpart for the 6800nu, it is much faster than a 9800 XT and slower than a x800 Pro, and cheaper than either one.

x800 Pro vs. 6800 GT... these cards are usually the same price, their performance in HL2 is really too close to call. I like the 6800 GT because it is faster than the x800 Pro in almost everything else, especially OpenGL and Doom 3 (and thus all the future games using the Doom 3 engine...).

x800 XT vs. 6800 Ultra... these cards are usually the same price, performance is very close in HL2 but the x800 XT is usually faster at the highest settings.

The only one that would be worth upgrading to would be the 6800GT, X800Pro cards. The 6800 is good too but there are too many times that it performs like a 9800 pro, if I was to justify the price.

The 6600GT and X700XT are also faster than the 9700/9800 cards, but again I would consider it a waste for upgrading.

Now if you sell your 9700 Pro for a good price then that may change all of this.

i could sell my 9700 pro for 100 - 120 euro. so if i buy me a 6600 GT it will be a small price for a better card then i have now. a 6800 GT is just to much for me because in the store i HAVE to buy it the price is 500 euro for a GT. and then i also have to buy a new power-suplly of 100 euro so that makes 600 euro.

more opinions ?
