Hi, there are my system specs:

Gigabyte 7VAXP,
AMD Athlon 2800+, (running 166Mhz FSB)
Sapphire Radeon 9800,
1Gb Twinmos pc3200.

I've run 3d Mark03 and must results seem a bit odd, I get 4559.
When comparing people with lower specs I seem to have a lower result, is it down the the board or is something misconfigured?
I know 03 has some troubles.
It always seems to be my cpu score that is lower.

yeah seems a little low, but not alarming low. post your compare link so we can look at it =)

hmm, on friday i could post my score, but i'll have everything except the gfx card.. i don't want to see what it looks like with my gf4ti4400 :(

First of, you have to keep in mind that many people does the benchmark with minimum details (texture quality etc), thus get a little higher... The score isnt THAT much wrong, my 9700 Pro can get about 4800 marks. Something as simple as reinstalling drivers could get you those extra marks. I wouldnt worry about it. If you had 3500 instead, THEN you could worry :)

Well, make sure you're video card is setup correctly. I have heard of many situations (look at guru3d's forums) where ATI cards don't perform well untill you pump a little more power through the AGP port.

i think its alreaad disabled, hge gets abouve 60fps....or is that for hl only...actually i would worry about your cpu score. i have a 2500 slightly overclocked and mine is above 600, check your BIOs make sure your at 166x12...it seems it is due to your score thingy...i dont know but your cpu score is low and that seems to be whats holding u back.

whats the 12 for?
Voltage?
As current my voltage settings are as the bios sets them

no the 12 stands for the multiplier. normal voltage is between 1.65 and 1.75

My current setings are Multiplier: 12.5
FSB: 166
VCORE:1.65

Got a score of 4604 by reducing radeon 9800 options, just reduced them further and running again. If CPU still doesn't pop up to about 8fps on cpu test 2 there's gotta be something wrong.
It's a KT400, something to do with nforce2 & KT400 northbridges?

Hm? The Nforce2 got nothing to do with the KT400... But do you have the mobo drivers installed? Everything setup? My 2400+ gets 9.4fps btw on CPU test 2... 51.4fps on the first, so yes that does sound wrong. The rest of the tests, its nearly identical with my 9700 Pro (on the same fps sometime).

166x2 = 333 is just for marketing purposes.....more is always better in the eye of the uneducated consumer.

just like the p4s 800mhz fsb ..is really 200x4

yes i noticed that too.

eh raise your fbs to 166 drop multiplier to 12 and that is a 2800+ or maybe its 12.5 just watch your temp its not overclockin so everthing should be fine. higher fbs almost always gets better performance ie. mine is 192x11 and a 3200+ = 200x11 3000+ = 200x 10 or 10.5 i cant member.

That's a comparision, mine can't of apppeared, as I have all those settings

EDIT: Choosing a multiplier of 12 only made my results worse.

well u need to find the best combination, trial and error my friend.

Which Catalyst driver do you have installed? 3DMark03 barely has anything to do with the CPU.

ank it prolly has more to do with it than u think.

I updated to 7.91 and got 4811 marks.
I updated to 7.93 and got 3991 marks, looks like I'll be getting rid of the latest.
I have a friend who's got exactly the same setup except for an asus nforce board, he's around 5400.

KiNG: Look around for the artice on some site that has the 3DMark03 reauslt of a 2.4GHz machine and a 300MHz (i think that's right, back me up) that had the same video card. They were within 500 3DMark of each other. There's no way a 300mhz machine would run a game like 3dmark03 says it would.

anyway.

Have you tried more power through AGP port?

It has something to do with it, but not alot. The GPU is what makes your score good/bad. I forget the link, but this has been shown to be true.

It's defiently true, I'm quite shocked that Futuremark don't run a proper cpu test.

my results are in there somewhere i scored around 4700 with my 5900 non ultra on my computer thats currently underclocked (cant get the damn thing to accept my 2100 amd as being 1733 it causes windows to freeze) So its works, im happy, and when i get home from work im going to try once again to get the damn thing to work.

I get 5201 marks and heres my system:

Athlon 2000+
512mb 2100 DDR
ATI 9800Pro 128ddr
nForce(1) shipset.

Last I got was a 5873, I'm sure I can do 5900 though.

VIA KT600
9800 PRO
2800+ Barton
