i feel so utterly disappointed. i was one of these who always thought dnf would see the light of day and i feel like a ****ing idiot clutching to that thought for 13 years. utterly shit
 
Unfortunate that its gone this way. Perhaps Take 2 will revive the project in some manner.
 
I don't believe any of this. DNF is still in development trust me I know it will be released sooner or later

**** T2, I don't want them to touch Duke Nukem. They would turn it into a dumbed down console game.
 
T2 doesn't have the Duke IP nor the right to develop Duke games in-house. It was a one shot publishing deal for Duke Forever.

Wait... if 3D Realms shuts down surely this really is the fatal blow to Duke Nukem Forever?
 
Chances are someone will pick up the Duke Nukem license in the yard sale, whether they'll want to use DNF's assets though depends on the developer. So I think we'll see Duke Nukem 4 eventually, just created by a different team, and not many developers have the balls of 3DR so it'll probably be dumbed down.

It also depends on how much 3DR are in debt and if they need to pay off creditors, in which case we'll prob see Duke Nukem sold. Otherwise they can take it to the grave with them.

Seriously, when the old STALKER build was released no-one gave a crap if it looked a little worse, or if new features hadnt been added, so why should this be different?

Eh, it was a tech demo designed for inhouse viewing, not a polished press video bound for E3, not only that but it barely contained any gameplay, it was created by one of the artists to show off the animations.

What makes no sense, why not just go to Take Two for money? Show Take 2 what they've got and if it really is near completion then Take 2 would probably jump on board to get it funded and out the door. It's not like DNF has been a money pit for TT, as has been noted TT has barely invested anything into DNF, it's simply a publishing agreement, nothing more, but if 3DR are desperate then the only recourse would be to change the nature of that agreement.

With Take Two actually funding the project it might give 3DR the impetus they need to finish the game.
 
The game was ****ed anyway. 3D Realms was like Ion Storm. They make 1 good game and then proceed to be the aces. Seriously, what other good games exept the DN3D have they done? NOT ONE. So goodbye 3d Realms.

edit: oops i forgot the Apogee era. But still, i stand corrected.

It really looks nice in those images, a little way off compleation obv but with abit more working into, post processing, lighting and particals it would be looking top notch.

I esp like the sexy girls, tbh I was really looking forward to sexy naked computer girls :(

The guy is a blowhard. There were probably a lot of impassioned 3DR employees who would have loved to "save Duke" with a fan movement. Just because an insider registered the site doesn't mean it's "asshattery" as the poster put it. Just because the site was registered before OP caught wind of it. He forgot to include the "horses before zebras" C option: just an employee who heard the news internally and wanted to do whatever he could to get the project to see the light of day.

And jesus christ, don't you know it's bad manners to post a full-res screenshot that causes the forum page to resize? Some people ...

Hi Everyone. I'm sorry to burst your collective bubble...and I'm quite surprised to have caused such an uproar.

There is no conspiracy. I don't work for 3D Realms. I'm a just the "bored nerd" who happened to read about 3D Realms closing shop and decided on the spot to register the URL (savedukenukem.com) to see if I could drum up some interest in saving the franchise. Honestly I had no real plan except:

1) register URL 2) Eventually build out some forums and news content 3) Collect donations 4) Send donated money to 3D Realms employees or purchase the IP for the games.

I thought I'd have a few weeks to start working on the site but, out of curiosity, I decided to look at google analytics for my "coming soon" page this afternoon (btw, someone was right - it's Tekton Pro, not Comic Sans...but doesn't make the site any prettier). I was quite shocked to see 9000 people had visited the page today! I found that half of that traffic came from Reddit and, well, here I am.

It's a bit humorous to see all the detective work that has gone on to figure out this great mystery that I never intended - and it's also scary to see all the info people were able to drum up about me in such a short time. Guess next time I'll be registering domains anonymously.

By the way, it looks like someone on here is saying he is me...he's not. Since I'm sure everyone will doubt my identity, feel free to ask me to post something to the site and I'll do it as soon as I see the request.

I'm sure this post will drum up even more controversy. For that, I'm sorry to have wasted all your time.
