Crap, im gettin crappy scores in 3dmarks03'.

any good tips or help ideas.?
My system is 9800pro/2.6c/512ddrm/ and win2000.
I think its my win2k and its inability to use HT rite. Im not sure. I wanna get atleast 6k tho.

What are the absolute fastest drivers and settings.

Catalyst 3.7 seem to be the best drivers released for the radeons yet.

You wont hit 6k with stock speeds. Maybe 5500 if your lucky.

You didnt even list the score you're getting.

Here's some tips to improve your 3DMark03 score without overclocking:

-Reinstall and update Windows (not very practical)

-Stop all unecessary programs, processes, and services (lists of unnecessary services can be found in the forums of www.extremeoc.com)

-Drop all the DirectX settings to the minimum in your graphic card's controls.

-Reboot your system before every single benchmark test.

You can also play around with different versions of the Catalyst drivers. Some people swear by different versions, I personally like the hotfixed 3.9's.

To drastically improve your score, you have to overclock your system. Overclocking your CPU will help your score a bit, but I've noticed huge increases in my score when overclocking my videocard. There are also helper applications that can automatically optimize your graphic cards settings for maximum scores (some consider this cheating). Download Tweak3D off of www.rage3d.com if your interested in overclocking your videocard, but to get a real good overclock, you must have better than stock cooling.

As you can see, I know what I'm talking about:

..your score is exactly where it should be for your system/card. I don't see why you think it's crappy, that's about what everyone benchmarks around with that setup.. you're not going to get much higher of a score if you reformat

I agree with Shuzer, that score looks right for your system. Compare to mine...

My specs:

AthlonXP 3000+ @ 2.1GHz 400FSB
Asus nforce2 A7N8X 2.0
2x512mb Corsair pc3200 DDR RAM 400MHz
ATI 9800 Pro 128mb 3.7 drivers, stock speed
WindowsXP Pro

My scores:

3dmark2003 - 5600
3dmark2001 - 17,000

True, it's better to test your system by actually playing your games. But some people like to use the 3dmark programs to compare their systems to others that have posted their scores.

I personally like Aquamark alot. It's quicker and it reflects the performance of your machine a lot better. The scores don't fluctuate as much either at the same settings like 3DMark03 does.

Yeah, i don't like 3dmark03 either, i use it to compare, since everyone else use it, but 'me not like'... :p
Gotta try out that aquamark sometime
