I just bought another gig so now I have 3 will I benefit with todays newer/future games?

Keep it on an even keel, 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, 8gb, so forth.

Otherwise you can hurt yourself, performance wise. 2gb is all you really need right now for today's games, but I reckon another gig won't do much harm.

Well... I myself have 3 gigs now since I gave my brother my two 512s and bought a gskill 1 gig stick. I was worried that I might suffer a performance hit, because my bios reports that I'm now operating in single channel mode.

However, I did some reading and found out that the performance difference is so negligible you will probably never notice it.

The only annoyance I notice is that my post takes much longer to finish... because it waits and then pops up a warning message that I am in single channel more that goes away immediately. I only ever saw it once, as i no longer have a way to freeze it at the exact moment I need to in order to see it.

Anybody know how to disable this POST single channel memory warning?

The only game i think will benefit really is Assassins Creed, that recommends 3 Gig because it's a unoptimised pile of shit.

Many 64-bit games (which require a 64-bit OS) can use more than 2gb of RAM. Crysis for instance.

Also, I do tons of photoshop and Premier.... so the 4gb (2x2gb) works awesome for encoding, editing, etc very large files.

If i pop a DVD movie into one of my plextor drives and a blank in the other.... using DVD shrink it only takes 16 minutes to re-code and burn from start to finish. :)
