I just got the August Alienware Newsletter, and they are now selling 4.0GHz P4s 1MB L2 cache! Also, 3.8EEs!

Awesome. More heat for Alienware's (IMHO) poor tech service to deal with.

P4 4GHz EE :)
My 200$ A64 is running at 2.3GHz, but it doesn't have 1MB L2 cache and dual channel like the FX, oh well. ;)

Must be overclocked.. I haven't heard anything official about a 4ghz Prescott yet.

Oh, and guess what, if you buy it right now, it'll only cost $900, with a $100 instant rebate of course!

Fact is, the only people who are going to get their hands on one are the rich people, the people who harvest their family's organs for PC money, and reviewers. Seriously, until HL3 come out, I don't think there will be a great need to upgrade to anything past an A64.

Almost has to be overclocked.

BTW, Alienware's are horrible. Falcon Northwest and Polywell systems are way better quality for the money and almost always do better on benchmark tests.

Also, the P4EE is the biggest waste of money I've seen in a long long time.

Ehm, am I the only one to get the fact that Ghz no longer represent true processor performance?

We'll have to come up with something new, since for example the newer A64 procs run at only 2+ Ghz and outperform most P4's wich have a Ghz more.

No yer not the only one...but i digress...when i stop seeing fried mobos ,cpus and "geeks" comin with with How come my puter freezezes when i run this and that and yadda yadda.
I now sell amds on one condition...any cpu failures must be hardware checked for ID-10-T errors.

Haha, "ID-10-T", "idiot", I get it. :E

No, you're not the only one that realizes that. And Mhz never did represent a true comparison of performance. This isn't something new with the latest AMD vs Intel battle. CPU architecture has always made a difference. For example, there were pentium1 233mhz CPUs when the Pentium2 was introduced at 200mhz. Stupid people bought the Pentium1 thinking it would be faster because it was 233mhz not 200mhz. What they didn't realize was that the P2 architecture made the 200mhz P2 faster than the 233mhz P1.

Alienwares arent THAT expensive in my opinion...people get out of 3 years ago..

The week after i made my computer, i built an almost identical system on alienware.com... 1,000 more then i spent building.
