5.1 sound patch soon?

I've seen plenty of talk about the patch for stuttery sound, but nothing about one to fix the 5.1 surround broken-ness.

(That is, only getting sound from the center channel on a 5.1 setup)

Does anyone have any info they can share?

if u use a ac97 chip try the wdm 3.63 drivers, it worked for me and many others.

thanks! I am using AC97. I'll look for them as a short-term fix - but as I understand it, won't that break my other games?

(Call me a nutter, but I'd like all my games to work with the same set of drivers.)

how can you know what chip your using?

If you use a VIA based soloution theres a good chance that you have an AC97 onboard sound.

I just installed the 3.63's and it fixed my HL2 5.1 problem (im using on board ac97).

I fired up some other games and my 5.1 still works fine.
