after wasting about an hour on the phone with the people from asus they can't tell me crap :\

anyways, will i have compatibility issues running my xms corsair 4000 500mhz on that board? the board specifications list supported ram speeds up to 400mhz, but there are no boards that are rated up to 500, so i assume my board would be compatible?

i'm buying this ram so i can overclock and still maintain a 1:1 ratio of ram/fsb. 250:250. i was told by the people from asus that the memory would clock itself down to 400? does this mean i won't be able to run at 1:1??

personally i don't think they know what they're talking about.

So what's the problem? It won't underclock to 400MHZ if you up the FSB and change to 3:2/5:4/1:1.

Ahhh so you decided to follow in my footsteps? Good choice on the CPU. RAM speeds higher then PC3200 go with OCed FSB speeds.

EDIT: Oh and you could have went with the XMS PC3700, people have easily OCed it to 250mhz.

okay. i'm really more of a software guy (lots of java/c++) and i'm relatively new to the hardware scene. i was afraid the limitations of the motherboard would underclock the ram to 200mhz, which would make running at 1:1 at 250mhz fsb impossible >.<

and you're saying that won't happen?

Yeah it will happen. Rootbin go into BIOS and somewhere in one of the options you can choose if you want to set the speeds yourself, automatically etc. You can chose other settings for the RAM too. Just realized this today setting up my comps.

might be a good idea to lock ur agp/pci bus speeds.
Unless of course they are automaticly locked.
