They had a used copy of it at Game Stop or software etc., at the mall where i live.

There's this oddly named "Software Discount Store" a half hour drive from my house, which is the only place I know which stocks some old games like HL1, Return to Monkey Island etc, but I don't know why they call it a discount store since they sell everything at a higher price than everywhere else. I think I saw Splinter Cell:pandorra Tomorrow for $35 there, when I saw it going for $15 in another shop.

Yay for torrents and video games costing nothing! (except your soul:flame: :flame: :flame: )

But you can't torrent a game for the Xbox 360 (or at least not yet). Renting ftw! I mean seriously, who actually continues to play a game a month after you buy it? It would have to be a game with great multiplayer (halo 2) and has great replay value (oblivion). In my mind, what makes a commercially successful game is one that will keep the player interested in it even long after you complete the single-player aspect of it. This way it forces people to go out and buy it in order to get that everlasting appeal instead of just renting it. One of the reasons Halo was so successful was that it had GREAT multiplayer. Without it, most people (not all) would have just rented it for the single-player and left it at that, same with morrowind. But then games like Thief: Deadly Shadows (awesome game) don't sell as well because people are just going to pirate/rent it because they know the game is only good for the single player. When CS became retail, you HAD to buy it in order to play online with the CD key. All a developer needs to do is put in that lasting appeal (like being able to play morrowind many different ways) or that "must buy feature" (like Halo type multiplayer or an online key in CS's case) and it will get much more sales. I also believe that with SC: CT, without that killer co-op, I guarantee most people would have just rented it for the single player (sort of like what I did for the first game).

Wake up to the real world man! We don't need your price raises! *Grabs three month old cabbage off shelf and hucks it at SixThree*

Again I ask, when HAVEN'T games for a brand new console cost around 60$ ?

maybe you're right azz...but it just seems a bit weird when the PC version of Call of Duty 2 is 49 and theyre charging 60 for the same exact thing just on xbox

Games are damn overpriced. PC games are well priced, though. They have much more features than console games (PC games have mods, they can be edited, and can be played online). Ever since the former wave of next-gen (PS2, Xbox, Gamecube), games have gone into space orbit when it comes to the price. In general they're almost twice as expensive as the old PS1 games.

I only buy games if theyre really good (Metal Gear Solid series, the trustworthy ones that you KNOW are awsome every time). Otherwise you can have a LOT more fun with the money than spend it on some half assed videogame. A LOT.

Hmmm yea as far as I can remember though, PC games have always been cheaper than console games when they first release

thats because PC games are way better so they sell them for less...

Wanting the best graphics and all games to support HD comes at a price you know.

COD 2 looks crap compared to the PC version. The heat haze is horrible, just looks like the map is melting into view.

I have heard many people saying the opposite and that the 360 version looks much better. However in reality this is the new pricing scheme thanks to increased development costs which can mostly be associated with, well, supporing high definition. Perhaps COD 2 didn't cost enough more to justify the increased cost but it won't matter in the end since this is probably the new standard for the 360.
