but fails for Chris Tucker

One of my favorite Sci-Fi movies. Saw it when it originally came out back in '97. I loved every bit of it.
I was really surprised by Chris Tucker's performance. Luc Besson got the idea when he was a kid and wrote it over several years. The movie only told half of the story and there was meant to be a sequel but Besson lost interest for some reason. This could've been the next Star Wars imo.
Instead, he went on to produce some half assed and overhyped chase movies.

Chris Tucker's great when he has a straight character to play off of like in the 5th Element. And yeah, that's the scene Adrik :)

Hence, she performed the notes in isolation -- one by one, as opposed to consecutively singing them all together and they digitized the notes to fit the music.
Shit, I need some of that digitizing in my music! Can't get enough of the digitisizigiting! I bet it's what Aphex Twin uses. I hate people who have no idea what they're talking about.

One of the worst films I have ever seen. It lacked any depth and it was very silly. The aliens just looked retarded the only slightly redeemable bit was the woman who was so attractive.

2/10

4. I haven't seen it.

It's well worth watching.

It was on TV a few months back and was better than I remembered. Has a very Bladerunner style to it. It's that sort of science-fiction.

Saw it when I was like 13, haven't seen it since. Very good.

I expected good sci-fi movie with some jokes but I was very disapointed. It was like some crazy Star Wars parody directed by Ed Wood. Blade Runner style? WTF?

A silly comedy? Oh dear zombie jesus no!

I love the fifth element!
Police: Are you classified as human?
Korben Dallas: Negative, I am a meat popsicle.
:D

Oh lord, that quote always makes me laugh to no ends.

General Munro: [after telling Korben about the mission] Any questions?
Korben Dallas: Yeah. Just one. Why me? I retired six months ago. You remember?
General Munro: Three reasons. One - as a member of the elite special forces unit of the Federated Army, you are expert in the use of all major weapons & space craft needed for this mission. Two - of all the members of your unit, you were the most highly decorated.
Korben Dallas: ...and the third one?
General Munro: Of all the members of your unit, you're the only one left alive.

Okay, just watched it.

The beginning was alright. The rest was shit. Stupid looking aliens, stupid special effects, stupid plot, stupid action.

Oh well, I suppose it makes for a good B-scifi movie.

Except what they mean is that they literally took the notes she was singing, turned them into samples, and then played them on a keyboard. It sounds like absolute shit in the movie, and is very obviously fake.

TNT and TBS used tom play this movie every single day so I saw it like 8345347598732489579348 times and now I want it to BURN.

... thank you, I had no clue. It's called electronically arranged, or sampled. I was laughing at the use of 'digitizing.'

Are you ginger or something?

I only know like 2 people who dislike the movie, so I've come to the conclusion that they're just jaded and dont know how to have fun while watching a movie.

The opera sequence is awesome. Easily one of my favorite parts. It's not supposed to sound like something real at that point... the Diva isn't human.

I liked it. I didn't love it, but I liked it.

I just rewatched it, and i want to change my vote from good to amazing.

For me it's perpetually poised on the boundary between brilliant and awful. It's so wonderfully incoherent, so unabashedly ridiculous, so immaculately trollish in that it pretends to take itself seriously and absolutely doesn't. Oh, screw it. I love this film.

Good film! Lots of fun. Almost strays into the realm of awesomeness.

Really love the movie. The style and feel is great. Characters have some attitude. It doesn't take the sci fi part seriously which makes it fun.

They seriously need to make another movie set in the same universe with a different theme.

I saw it 'for what it was' the first time apparently. Rewatching it made me a lot less sure. The vibe I got wasn't 'Die Hard in space', it had this awful frathouse-comedy feel to it somehow and masking-tape does nothing for me. Plenty of good actors (and some bad or plain random ones) having a lot of silly fun.

I'd rate it 'Average', but that just seems to be the wrong word for it, because there is clearly so little like it out there. So it's either wonderfully uniquely rubbish, or just bad. Since 'bad' is my only choice, that's what I'm going with. But really, it's nowhere near that harmful.

Fantastic film, one of my favorites. I've always loved Luc Besson's films.

Love this movie to bits. Gonna watch it again with the misses this weekend now :D

I haven't seen it recently, but it's the move I have watched the most times.

Love this film, one of my favourites when i was younger and have not seen it in so long. Going to buy on dvd next time im in Asda
