Got this idea from a MySpace bulletin a friend posted.

6 that changed your life.. albums that is
Body: Pick 6, yup just 6...........

Name six albums that CHANGED your life????? Now remeber these are not favorite albums or "desert Island six" because those abums should be different.

Basically, put 6 albums down that changed your musical tastes in any way AT THAT TIME, make sure to put them in the order you discovered them in with the age, here's mine

1. Garth Brooks - In Pieces (5)
2. The Beatles - Anthology 3 (8)
3. Godsmack - Godsmack (12)
4. Static X - Machine (14)
5. Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (16)
6. The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (18)

1. Billy Talent - Billy Talent __(age 14)__ This was the first album I ever owned, and it got me on the way to finding music on my own.
2. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral __(age 18)__ The second NIN album I listened to, and it got me into his entire discography and got me on my way to liking electronica. I also now really like concept albums, and try and find overarching concepts in every album I listen to (usually just ends with me disappointed in the lack of one).
3. Radiohead - OK Computer __(age 18)__ Let me find Radiohead's other albums, which then made me like electronica even more. Helped me appreciate songs that aren't totally straightforward or have abstract lyrics.
4. Tool - 10,000 Days __(age 19)__ Helped me appreciate songs longer than four minutes, with variable progressions, time signatures, and so forth. Now any song less than 5 minutes seems really short to me.
5. LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem __(age 19)__ I now like electronica a lot.
6. Metric - Live It Out __(age 18)__ I can now listen to bands that have female leads.

I SEE NO AGES

You have broken the rules, leave now or forever be damned to eat cake

1. Hybrid Theory put out by Linkin Park : Yes, thats right, this is my single most important album; Why? it got me started out on music, then I craved more and more, and when I heard a better band, I craved even more and more.

2. The Fake Sound of Progress put out by Lostprophets : This was an amazing album, it was the second album I really got into. Once I listened to Shinobi Vs. Dragon Ninja, my mind was blown away. I also found Muse from a Lostprophets fan

3. Louder Now put out by Taking Back Sunday : It was a more mainstream sounding album, but this was the driving point for me to find more and more bands. After I found out about Taking Back Sunday, I realized that there were lots of bands out there I would like, and this gave me a drive to listen to band after band (Though I still have a lot to listen to)

4. With Teeth put out by Nine Inch Nails : This was the album that got me into Nine Inch Nails, and its definately one of the easier albums to get into. Trent is a ****ing amazing musician

5. Black Holes and Revelations put out by Muse : Man, I thought this album was so weird when I first heard it, and I was like "Meh", but then it grew on me sitting in my iTunes Library, and my outlook on what kind of music I like changed completely.

6. Nevermind put out by Nirvana : I love Nirvana to death (I'm not so hot for Teen Spirit though), and I had to include one of their albums, so I decided on their most well known album; Nevermind. I really don't have a favourite Nirvana album, I like it all in equal, healthy doses.

Ok I came in here thinking life-changing was actually changing your life, not changing or developing musical tastes. The average person is lucky to have even one truly "life changing" musical experience. I mean come on, that's a drastic term.

So I'm going to unofficially relabel this thread as "6 albums that changed your musical tastes"
Even though it clarifies this in the OP. You still mislead me! You'll pay dearly!

**** if I can remember how old I was. These are just the most recent ones I guess, or really the most important ones.

Aphex Twin - Richard D James album: Come to Daddy and Girl/Boy Song are what really got me into Aphex Twin.
Aphex Twin - Drukqs album: Introduced me to some more intense shit as well as classical piano type music.
Aphex Twin - Analord album: One word, Acid.
Squarepusher - Hard Normal Daddy album: Began my venturing into other artists similar to Aphex Twin.
Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett album: Introduced me to Venetian Snares as well as hardcore break music.
Venetian Snares - Meathole album: Made me want to explore the rest of what Aaron Funk had to offer, even more intense crazy ****ed up noisecore and such, definitely brought me to the edge of the spectrum.
