can someone give me an approximate cost with this thing? and is it better then a 9800 pro? my bro is about to buy a new video card

$200 and it's definitely better than the 9800 pro, in some benchmarks it's better than the 6800NU which is surprising. Get it. But the AGP version isn't coming out for a few more weeks, maybe a month.

the agp wont come out till around christmas, the PCI-E comes out in a few weeks dude.

and yeah, its $200. and its gonna own pretty much everything except the 6800 GT/U and x800.

The PCI-E is already out, the AGP should be out in a month.

pci-e is out? i thought it was sep. 27'th...

as for the agp, 1 month! sweet! i thought they wouldnt release it till christmas or early 05. :D

No I've been hearing about a month. The card is awesome, in a lot of benchmarks it actually beat a 6800NU I couldn't believe it!

I'm going for the 6800GT cause of that $333 one on buy.com. But not till Xmas. And maybe you're right maybe the 6600GT is Sep. 27 but AGP is only like a month away Nvidia said they're gonna have the AGP versions soon after the PCI-E one is released.

i dont have that much money cause i have to do a major upgrade

im getting a new mobo, ram, 6600GT, and case with PSU.

I thought that when a card comes out that it would initially cost a lot more ? Anyways , so ur saying that when this 6600GT comes out it's gonna cost less and run faster then the 9800Pro ?

Ah, I see. Well you know, maybe you should get a PCI-E mobo and just get the PCI-E 6600GT then you're set for the future.

i was going to, but then i found this intresting article about how PCI-E does nothing to improve the performance. its only gonna make a big difference in two years, and i will probably have upgraded again by then. and if i get PCI-E, it really starts adding up. plus i dont like intel.

Yeah I guess you're right, by the time it's useful we'll all need new systems anyway.

i was really convinced to get an intel cpu and mobo last week, but then i read that article, that the difference between AGP 8x and PCI-E 16x right now is like .2 FPS. lmao, where is that i have to find it.

Yeah right now that's all, in 2 years it'll be worth it when everybody gets new systems for Longhorn. I would stick with AGP 8x and an Athlon system, Athlon 64 is awesome.

i know, my dad's website sells it for $180, but my price is somewhere over $100 :D
