Yo,
I recently (like one and a half months ago) got a 6800gt and am very happy with it.
HOWEVER!
I have twice since had to reinstall the driver for it (latest one btw) because games started to f**k up with it.
After reinstallation- problem fixed, but surely i shouldn't have to keep doing this? What's the story?

Well, being more specific on your problem rather than just "****ing Up" might be helpfull. Also, your full system specs are a must.

ok, albatron k9x800 pro2
1 gig kingmax ddr 400
Gigabyte 6800gt (obviously!)
120gb SATA hd
I'm using the 66.93 forcewares driver (newest as far as i know)

The proble was in hl2 black expanses behind and around moving objects, and funny fuzzyness.
In Rome: Total War, patches of the ground in the battle map go flourescent in various colours, and that is the only problem.

Sounds like artifacting to me. Check your cards heat levels. Something maybe up. Maybe the fan is out?

when was the last time you had to reinstall? and just curious do they have any other drivers for nvida cards, as ati has like dna and omegas

Definately sounds like overheating, trying running with case open and see if problems still occur.

it is running at 55-57C idle, but gets up to mid to late 60's after an hour or more of gaming. last time i had to reinstall was yesterday- hence the new thread about it.
Im not sure if this is hot, i got 6 fans running in my case, cpu idles at 33C.
So you reckon reinstalling the drivers has nothing to do with it- its just giving the gpu some time to cool down?

60's sure sounds high to me, maybe investing is a vid card cooler would be a good idea.

I've heard that 50's are supposed to be normal for load. Maybe going with a stock cooler might help. But I would check to see if your fan is mailfunctioning first. Remember that if you install that stock cooler, you'll void your warranty.

on vtuner i can turn up the rpm of the fan to 'turbo' (it's on normal now), and surely that will have an effect, but is it fine to leave it on this setting?

yeah... so does anyone know what settings i can change on vtuner to cool this thing down a bit? Im running it at 350/900 (stock speed) but i mean fan setting (energy/turbo/auto optimized) and vga fan rpm in the 'settings' tab?
Any help would be great
