Do what i did and buy a packaged price computer at cyberpowerinc.com with everthing for like 700$ that includes case motherboard cpu 3.2 1 gig ram and the 9800pro or x800pro just no monitor its worth it get the extra 300$ and buy from cyberpowerinc.com trust me theyt are awsome

I won't have a problem running full detail @ 1024x768 or 1280x1024 @ 4xaa 8xaf...So there goes your theory!

that is so funny shmozy i had that computer last year and its actually clocked at 2.1 gigs amd you need an amd 3200+ or p4 3.2 and at least 1 gig ram with this game its well worth it

and recommended 1.5 gig 512 ram blah blah blah but in reality this is way off its all part of marketing if you really think about it there is like 20% hardcore gamers out there that they know yhey will buy hl2 and the other 80% are just regular home pcs that wont run hl2 well they are trying to get those 80% people to buy does this make sence

ya know alan, some people dont need 1600X1200 8x AA 60 fps high settings blah, some people can be happy with low settings and 30 fps atleast

That is the stupidest post I've ever seen on this forum, and there's LOTS...You don't need a super fast cpu to run hl2 on high detail, or lots of memory, infact 256mb is fine, 512 is recommended, like I said this ISN'T FarCry, and maps will load fine in hl2 so you don't need 1gb.

Yet again you lose! He doesn't have a 64bit mobo, so thus, WASTING MONEY, his 2800+ will do fine. It will have no problems running hl2. Quit trying to get people to waste there money.

All im tryng to say is i want everyone buying this game to be happy and not be like what is this this is hl2 it doesnt look good that will make me mad, but evan if you cant afford it now think about it 6 months from now or a year from now we will all run hl2 on full detail when we all have faster computers

like over 100 frames per second at least right
