Got my replacement leadtek 6800gt today (AGP) and found that the rear plate has been bent round (or never straightened) right out of the box. This means i cant fit it into the agp slot, as the rear plate wont go down the gap between the edge of the mobo and the case. What's the best way to fix this? Im thinking i could just straighten it, but i dont want to break anything, and doest this mean it could have been maltreated in some way before arriving to me?

yeah, or do you reckon i could take it into the retailer and get them to do it, so that the responsibility's theirs?

My guess would be that bar is straightened before its applied to the card, so i would'nt try do a bit of DIY :P...the bar is made of stainless-steel (or so i think they are) and the only way to get it straight would be to clamp it and i don't reckon that'd be a very clever thing to do :/ if it's aluminium then you could probably hand straighten it but it would still be imperfect. Take it back, show them, i'm sure they'll replace it straight away.

Yeh the last thing you want to do is damage it and void the warrenty trying to straigten it. I would take it back.

The tip of the bracket is too strait or the top end where the screw goes is not bent?

If it's the end you can just bend it a bit. If it's the part where the screw is then send it back.

Its the end with no screw, and i have tried bending it- however the bend it small and precise, like a small wave in the metal, so its pretty much impossible to straighten, i can nearly get it in, but it wedges itself into the slot and goes no farther. it's 8:45am here in NZ, and im calling up first thing (9).
