its 78celsius, and Im nnot even playing games, I dunno whats wrong somebody help me before its to late!

yes,I have also just enabled, "fan always on" and its still 74 :(

Whats the rest of the temps in your computer?
CPU, Mobo etc?

I can tocuh the the CPu heatsink and it warm but when I touch the 7800GT I could burn my fingers :(

Mine might be doing the same thing.

I'm not sure, though. I run the temp graph and it never goes above 70C but sometimes by PC shuts off for 5 mintues and automatically reboots. I'm thinking it's the videocard because when I touch it, as Lemonking said, it burns your fingers.

your best off buying a cheap pci slot fan and put it under your video card or rma the card

If it ever gets too hot, place a paper towel on the gpu and put an ice cube on it

Dust can also cause the card to heat up. Try getting a can of Blow Off or something and blow any dust away.

Since EP1, my system is been getting hotter then usual. I believe it's dust inside, possiably blocking the fans.
EP1 must of raped the hell out of my nVidia Geforce FX 5700LE.

well, In "dedusted it and put in in the last PCIX slot..now its 59 which is good considring its like 33celsius in my room.

I kinda think, my PSU is blowing hot air towards my GRfx card..so now that I put it way down the air isnt so hot..I think

lemon, now your in decent temps, but keep yuor side window on if its off youll get alot of dust

mine is a eVGA had no problems whatsoever, good luck with yours, I reccomend a dif cooler but thats not going to be a sure thing on improving your temps, you could try updating your bios, or trying different drivers and see if that helps any.

mine is eVGA as well, anyway,I thionk after I blowed the dust off its cooler now.

Dust can be a bitch. I cleaned my rig two days ago. Whole rugs of dust came out of my CPU and GPU coolers. I had some heating problems too, but they're are fixed now. Don't forget to turn the power off when you start cleaning. And don't blow it away. The spit will short circuit stuff.

Or just have a dry mouth, and do it veeeeeeery carefully
...or use a fan

I know very little about graphics cards and what really causes them to overheat; I know I sound like an idiot, but I'm still learning this stuff as I haven't really gotten into much PC gaming until recently. I'm getting a GeForce 7600GS; anyone know if they're bad about overheating? Do I know what I'm talking about?

nvidia cores do not run hot but it all depends on the manufacturers cooling solution they place on the card. i have the 7600gt and it idles at 44c and load is about 60c

Awesome, thanks. I just didn't know if I should look into a cooler or not.

I cleaned out my PC yesterday. The temps are fine now. Maybe it was the dust.
:\
