875 chipset

i might go for a new mobo this christmas, and i need one for socket 478, so is 875 the best? compared to 865?

The abit ic7-max3 motherboard is great so is the ASUS "P4C800-E DELUXE" both with 875 chips.

what about these, will i need a sound card for quality

There is a link to the max3. It is also exspensive but a great board. The max2 would also be a decent board at a better price level.
Gigabyte make good boards for overclocking but I have never read anything on the one you listed so I am not going to comment on that one.

Either 865PE or 875 would be great.
There should be lower cost versions of the Abit and Asus boards, or so I thought.

Ya those seem really exspensiove considering there about a year old. I have seen socket 939 boards for cheaper prices and its only a couple months old.
