Accordng to Scan its out at 2pm today. Im not getting a new card until the next batch of nVidias come out.

I only need a card if I want to play Crysis... which I dont coz its not woth the upgrade. I can plau UT3 and COD4 just fine on my rig

The GTS cards havent dropped in price... yet. Man these 8800GT cards really **** things up. Nvidias marketing team have ****ed up, no one in their right mind will buy a GTS/GTX/Ultra card now

Well, the 8800GT is 65nm instead of 90nm. Smaller die size might have dropped the cost quite a bit. And who knows what ATI has coming. Maybe Nvidia felt they couldn't drop the GTS's price as much. At least this gives the customer a clearer picture for what is the better buy.

My next system build, I plan on using ATI products. Just to see if they can do things better than NVIDIA. I haven't been to happy with their lack of "Centroid Sampling" of late.:hmph:

Where are these Phantom Cards you all speak of?

No pic and no Anantech type reviews, yet, we all love to get our hands on? Impressive!!!

Exactly, how the hell am I supposed to get a good resell value on my gts now? who in their right mind will buy a gts now? :(

Dont buy a card just for crysis yet. Everyone is getting terrible frame rates with high end cards, wait until they work it out.

ya well now you tell me ..I bought a 8800gts on your says, thanks a ****ing lot man

kidding, while I did recently buy a 640mb version I'm not blaming you ..or Gunner.....but it makes me feel better so ..sorry

bastard my kids went without food for a week just so I could afford a 8800 ..had I waited for the GT they could have at least ate soup or bread, anything's better than nothing

haha, sorry Stern :(

All my other games run like a friggen dream, yet Crysis runs like conjoined twins. The best performance I've seen is around 40 FPS, but only after editing some of the .cfg files. Im sure it will be resolved before the game is released but this is bad news for crytek.

The demo doesn't support SLI or multicore, and would probably run like shit on a Q6600 (CPU intensive).

Bah at least we're in the same boat Stern... lol sorry man. On the upside, the 8800 640 gts is said to run AoC on high (allegedly).

Crysis does not utilize more than 2 cores at a time currently, which is absolute crap. This game is getting worse by the minute it seems.

currently trying to get a refund for the 8800gts :) ..it just means I may have to wait a few weeks to get the 8800gt as it's almost sold out ..and processing the refund should be another week or so but hey I save myself $100 :) but then I have no new video card which is almost in my hands :(

should I do eet?

I think you should, if you have onboard video on your motherboard you can still use your pc while you're waiting for the cross shipping to finish. You'll thank yourself later cause the GT just came out and the GTS is on the way to destruction, make your time... Seriously, in all honesty you should do it. I would if I could, but the 3 month step-up from evga has expired :(

ya I think I'll exchange it and I still have my 7800gt so I wont be without a video card ...but I like shiny new things and the gts is almost in my hands :(

anyone know whether these cards will support DX10.1?

Wow this 8800GT is awesome value for money. What the hell were nVidia thinking when they built and priced this beauty

I wouldn't worry about dx10.1, there was a microsoft press release a while back ago and they said that current dx10 hardware will support dx10.1 to some extent just not all of the (yet to be announced) features that dx10.1 has. So in essence you know for certain that the GT will support dx10.1 to some degree. :)

that's good enough for me :)

so which GT should I get ..evga alone has 4 versions ..the GT, the GT KO, the GT super clocked, the GT super super clocked (they're running out of names)

http://www.evga.com/articles/378.asp

I think I'll go for the super super clocked ..cuz it's extra super (plus has most memory bandwidth)

Yeah might as well, super super clocked is the SSC? it's $20 extra for a great guaranteed overclock, it's good choice.

When did you buy your card?

I feel screwed with my 8800gts 320MB, but I bought on 9/26, so it may be too late for a full refund.

I finally got Crysis to run and I was surprised it actually ran relatively smoothly. Granted I had it in windowed mode, but everything was on very high and I got around 30-45 FPS.

This little ****er of a card blows my mind.

This makes things very interesting, I was on the verge of buying a BFG 8800GTX 768mb for alot of money. For a significantly less amount of money I can get the 8800GT OC2 version with little loss in power. My only worry is the scaling down from 768 to 512 onboard RAM, am I being overly paranoid?

Oh and 10.1 support and I'm sold...

God AMD is eating some serious dust left by Intel. 45nm? 4GHz? what is this world coming to? http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/10/29/intel_penryn_4ghz_with_air_cooling/index.html

The five biggest recorded mistakes in the world:

1) Russia selling Alaska to US.
2) Seattle trading Michael Jordan.
3) Germany attacking the Soviet Union.
4) Xerox selling Windows to Bill gates [edit] Actually to Steve Jobs; Bill stole it. lol.
5) Barney buying an AMD platform.

Those were five stupid mistakes ever made. Laugh all you wanna.

Yeah, do it. Not only will you get money back, but you'll have a better card as a result. Win/win.

Given the time we had to write this review, we focused on DirectX 9 performances under Windows XP. As we've seen, the DirectX 10 mode on actual games isn't optimized and consumes a lot of GPU power for an often disappointing result, and isn't therefore really recommended for mid-range cards.

As quoted beware Vista users. Do the research.

Nevertheless, this is for you all GTX haters. I can't believe it.
Whoever is shopping for a card; This is your lucky day. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...921+1068310557+1067932704&name=GeForce+8800GT
This card has the GTX by the throat; it's almost embarrassing. ;(

Good Luck.

how much performance gain does this have over the 8800GTS 640MB?

Stern, give some benchmarks when you get it!

Damn this is real surprising. Even though I bought my GTX for $580 6 months ago, I didn't regret it and still don't. It's a very awesome deal. Sucks for all the people that bought a gts recently.

Me neither, I don't regret that I actually bought two GTXs, and they brought me nothing but pleasure. I do feel for those who bought the GTS and the 8600GT they could wait a little.
Some of you who recent enough bought thr GTS or 8600GT can send the card back, ask for refund, pay some kind of restocking fee and then buy the GT and gain some.

Good Luck.

lol the MSi and Asus ones are gone too, thank you for that link
maybe I can make my grandmother get it early for me lol
