anyone know when they're supposed to be released? If its within 75 days, i want to step up from my evga 8800gts 640mb to the revision. I don't want to step up to an 8800gt at the moment as the new 640mb revision will probably be better.

supposedly the revision has 112 stream processors as does the GT ..however the GTS has more menory bandwidth meaning the it'll be better at high resolutions but probably marginally so

mid november rumour has it

Lets say I step up to the 8800gt...obviously the gt is cheaper than the gts... thats over a hundred dollar difference.......what happens to that extra money? Do I get cash back, or does it go wasted?

I don't think you can, according to EVGA, the new card has to be more expensive then the old card when you bought it to be valid for the step up program.

hmm... so basically I could step up to an 8800gtx for free? lol. Wouldn't they be losing money?

eVGA's MSRP for the standard 8800 GTX is $600. They go by their own prices.

No? If somehow the 8800gtx is now cheaper then the 8800gts was when you bought it, it wouldn't be a valid card for the step up program. Has to be more expensive.

What, Wha, What?
You just rearranged my mind backwards.

If the GTX is now cheaper than the GTS? Which card did I buy the beginning? The GTS? Or the GTX?

AHH! IM CONFUSED! (caps):rolling:

Well, as long as i can step up to the new gts, i dont care lol.

By "I" do you mean "you" as in me? I bought the GTS 640mb first.

I wasn't talking to you, I was trying to make sure I understood Sir. Phoenix.

OK Sir, I think I got it: Its if I buy GTS and GTS happens to become more expensive than GTX? is that when step-up comes to play?

How did you get that from what I said? I was saying IF the GTX somehow dropped in price below how much he originally paid for his GTS, then the GTX wouldn't be a valid card for him to get in the evga step up program.

But I misunderstood their site, they go by their current MSRP for the cards. He can step up to the GTX, or the GTS revisision (as long as it comes out within the 90 days), but not the GT.

I think we're basically saying the same thing but instead decided to keep misunderstanding one another.

quick question that's off topic. I dont wanna start a new thread.

K, I have an amd x2 6000+ as well as 2gb corsair ddr2 800 memory. The 6000+ is underclocking the memory unless i bump up the fsb from 200 to 214 making the cpu clock 3.2ghz. will the performance of the slightly underclocked memory be noticable you think?

I inlcuded some CPUZ pics.

Yeah, its still unstable.. :/. Maybe I need to give it some more juice. my current voltage is at 1.35 in BIOS... so just ignore the CPUZ readings. Not sure why it says 1.2xx.

tested with prime 95 for about 20 mins (i know...not enough but from my experience errors start popping up at around test 2) got to like test 5 i think without it crashing, so i quit and tested tf2. system rebooted within 10 mins.:( dammit! lol

EDIT: my RAM voltage is at 2.1 btw...

Edit#2: It's stable at 213 --- x15 multi ugh lol 1mz away from 214 how ridiculous

back on topic

evga step up program is based on current msrp of the card.

so however much you paid for your gts will be subtracted from the msrp of the step up card.

so say the gtx is $600 msrp and you bought your gts for $249 at newegg. no 600-249 = $351

so $351 is what you would need to pay for the new card plus shipping.

The memory speed that the AMD ratio is setting it to is fine. Besides, you'll probably need to up some memory timings to OC more. But if you raise timings for a few Mhz the performance would actually go down then.
