An 8th grader found a camera in the boy's bathroom. He took it down and showed it to his mother, the principle said that the camera was for security/safety reasons(vandalism). The kid was suspended for taking school property (camera). Anyone else think his suspension is wrong? or am I crazy? The judge said that Kids dont have as many rights as adults do... WHAT?! if anything kids have MORE rights than adults do. http://wmaz.com/news/top_stories.aspx?storyid=20466

If I was mistaken it was illegal to video tape in public restrooms. That invading privacy ffs, school administration is a bunch of horny toads obviously.

Security reasons? Are they ripping the urinals out of the walls or something? There are very few reasons for a camera in a schools restroom and most of them aren't very nice.

Yeah it is illegal to put cameras in bathrooms. However on the other side students aren't fully protected by the constitution. For one they don't have the freedom of speech and they also don't have other rights.

However...it is still wrong to video tape that!

He was suspended for taking the camera, not for discovering it.

I guess it depends on which way the camera was situated. I would call foul in any way, shape or form, but would be less willing to do so if its in an entirely innocent angle. Like towards the sinks.

However, I dont think the kid should be punished. Maybe he did a mistake for not taking it to the school authorities first, but he probably thought it was another kid who put it up there.

Did they mention how big the camera was? If it was a small easily concealed one, or what?

Yeah, itdepends on the situation and circumstances. A camera pointing at the door of the tiolet only, or the the walls for instance (EG: For catching out smokers) would propably be legal. Placing it INSIDE a cubicle or any place that degrades the children could probably lead to the school ending up in court.

Theres one in our local bus station.
I fully support that kid, in fact a support the taking down and destruction of almost all cameras inside school, there all over my school corridors.
There conditioning us to accept to be watched, and to think its okay.
Which it isn't!

In the video the kid says it was hidden in the ceiling. The mother saw the recording and said she just saw part of the stalls, but it's still BS...

Kids dont have as many rights as adults do. When your a kid you dont have freedom of speech in a classroom, but older people do. A kid went to court about having freedom of speech in a classroom but the judge said that, that ammendment didnt apply in school. But thats so stupid that he got suspended for taking a camera home that he didnt even know belonged to the school. A kid in my grade stole a teachers walet (creditcard, money drivers license) and he didnt get suspended.

I'd just pull my wang out and dance about in front of it for a while.

Whatever keeps you crazy kids from sniffing cocaine in the wee hours of morning.
