DOD: S was the same, very laggy, did the same as I did with css put dx down to 8 and all is smooth

Anybody know if the Nvidia drivers that were released yesterday fixes this? Do we still have to force dx to 8.1 to get decent FPS? My guess is yes since I have an FX series card that will run dx 9, but not with great preformance :(

Will this work even if you made a shortcut to CS:S? Or do you also got to add "-dxlevel 81" in the Target line?

I have a nVidia GeForce FX 5700LE, with the 78.01 drivers, and my bot games are lagging more then they did before. :(
(sorry for reposting the above sentance that I did a simular topic about this. But I think this is probley the best way to get an answer)

It should still work if you are using a shortcut. The shortcut launches the .exe which has the launch properties associated with it.

Tried it, MUCH... MUCH better then it was! It's playable again!! :D Thank you very much!

But yet there's another problem. It keeps defaulting to 1024x768 and resetting the settings I set before. I use 800x600.

Yeh mine does that which is annoying, but it still runs pretty decent at 1024x768, but can be laggy. I also have a FX 5700LE, seems to me the the FX card problems can be resolved in a way.

As the one above me said...

And it doesn't hurm your card.
It just lowers the Graphics quality...
So I recommand to use the highest DX supported by your card. (im a graphics-freak ^_^. though i have 9800p :( )

lol y did u lower it its meant to run in dx9 on hl2

Usually, the game automaticlly adjust the DX lvl to your card.
But the update has changed all the CFG to DX9.0 by default, and cannot change it.
The game would not work well with cards that does not support DX9.
:)

well an update just recently fixed the problem of it forcing dx9 and u can change it to dx8 anyways

I got a pretty small update yesterday. Is that what your talking about?
If so, does it fix the lag issues in CS:S so I won't have to use "-dxlevel 81" to control the lag?
