9250 Vs. 5200

Howdy, couldnt find any direct comparisons for the two ANYWHERE!!

I need to decide between the two which are identically priced (both 128 mb) so my brother can use my old computer (with no GFX Card, naturally). If you could provide a link comparing the two, that would be great, otherwise an educated opinion (preferably with evidence) would suffice.

Fanboys can feel free from any obligation to share their opinions.

well seeing as the 9200 beat the 5200 i would imagine that the 9250 would be better

Im not sure of which model you are looking for but both cards are in here. Keep in mind that the 9250 will be slightly better then the 9200 but not by much.

I guess this all comes down to the games he plays.
Games like WC3 it out performes the Ultra verson by 6FPS.
Though in Open Gl based games it will loose.

Either way though... They are both cards made for those with little money. I would say buy a 9600 at least, just save up for it...would due you much better..ecspecially if you saved up for a 9800XT .

Don't waste your money, I did that on an 5200 8 months ago, and ended up spending another $200 more 2 months later......at the very least get an 9600XT...

The 9200 is just old tech, basicly a Radeon 8500.
The FX5200 is still slow but will do the job a little better against most games. Has DX9 support (very crappy) so that could be a plus or minus. lol

A good old 9600 would do you best though.

the 5200 runs halflife 2 great on my brother and my friends comp, so if thats what you have to get i guess it will be fine

The 5200 will only run at dx 8.1
