9500pro or 9600pro?

I just found a Sapphire Radeon 9500 PRO Atlantis 128MB DDR AGP Retail only 200 SEK (25USD) expensiver than the Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis PRO 128MB
AGP, ATI9600PRO, DVI-I, TV-Out, Retail

My Comp:
p4 1.8GHz
512DDram
moderboard support max x4 AGP

Is it better to buy the 9500pro?
Eventho I probably wont overclock it.

Nope, only a very old 9500 can do that, those that are built with the same 9700 PCB. No 9500 Pro is using this, never has.

Personally I beleive the 9600 Pro will be the better deal for the future. 9600 Pro is more likely to gain from driver improvements, it has more advanced features (ie the f-buffer, smoothvision/hyperz enhancements etc) and it can clock pretty good... I think future games will gain more from using this than the 9500 Pro. But no one can be 100% certain of course, I aint even 50% certain, its just an opinion.

Sidenote: And that's probably 2000 sek...

Yeah, unless it's a 9500pro w/ the Red PCB board and the 9700pro RAM layout, i'd get the 9600pro.

The whole point of the bios flash was to enable the 4 extra pipelines. The 9500pro has all 8 enabled, thus there would be no point in the BIOS flash. The 9500 Pro is a faster card, but the 9600 pro can be overclocked farther...Comes down to what you wanna get. If you can, get a 9700 np, otherwise your choice.

The 9600pro doesn´t have the F-buffer thing, only the cards thats build on the r350 core has it. Furthermore th 9600pro lack the Hierarchical Z that the 9500pro has. But i have to agree with you that the 9600pro is the better choice.

The 9500 Pro is faster. It's basically a 9700 Pro just with lower core and mem speeds and a 128 bit memory bus instead of the 256. I would go for the 9500. I flashed the bios on mine and managed to overclock it to 350 core, 305 mem - 12289 in 2k1 and 4100 in 2k3. Very good card.

um how about dont be so up yourself... if you knew anything you would realise SEK is the swedish currency (i hope or im gunna look dumb as hell) and that they dont really speak english as a first language...

Happy owner of a 9500 pro.

Flashed the bios have oc'ed to 354/315.

Also, the 9500pro does have 8 pipes already. As Curator mentioned, it's the 128 bit mem vs 256 bit mem which makes it different from the 9700pro (as well as being a bit slower clocked, which is easy to take care of).

For under $200, it's a good buy if you can find them (I just bought this one a couple months back for $189)

Hm, yeah I noticed it doesnt have smartshader 2.1... It uses the older 2.0. I thought it used that. Still I also think its the better choice of the two. The 9800 non pro is the best overall though, and definetly worth the little extra money.
