anyone got a good link to a comparison chart because i cant find a good one, or any comment on how/if the 256 is better in what ways.

if you're talking about ram get the 128. i believe slower memory is used in the 256 version.

if you're talking about 128 bit memory interface or something like that, get the 256.

Actually - I've found that in D3 you can play with 9600XT 256 mb ram on high settings @ 800 x 600.

On 128 mb, medium settings @ 800x 600 with almost the same framerate.

You do the math ;) (although this is just considering D3, a highly optimized piece of software)

Currently D3 is the only game out that that uses that much video memory. Valve said they'd release uncompressed maps so that 256mb cards could take advantage of that. But I wouldn't say that you should get the 256mb card at the expense of something else in your system.

That reminds me of a detail I noticed when watching the benchmarks. The graphics quality hardly has any affect on the frame rate, maybe 3-5 fps difference. But when the resolution is changed you get real advantages. So I think it would be kinda same if you play with everything maxed or low details.

Well I have the 9600xt w/256mb memory and the only difference I noticed was the extra £10 in price. Other than that I can't say.

supposedly they have less graphic corruption.

other than that there's not a huge amount of difference.
