Hi, I have a 9600XT (not any special brand like Saphire or anything, just ATI) and ever since I downloaded the new ATI 4.10 drivers my CS:S display is corrupt. It only does this when I have the texture detial set to High, but if i turn it to meduim it works fine. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and I even uninstalled Steam and reinstalled it, nothing helps. Im wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how to fix it. I have done everything that I know how to do. I have even messed around with Overdrive and the AI settings with the ATI control panel. Thanks.

Try the 4.8 Omega Drivers...they seem to do anything!

If the 4.9 Catalyst drivers work fine, I'd go back to them. I'm sure that if this is a common problem, Ati will fix it soon enough. If it's a specific problem with your card though, perhaps someone else can suggest something better......

thanks, but i kinda wanted to stick with the ati 4.10, they make the game run about 15fps faster than the 4.9...i thought that there might be a way to fix this in the ati drivers themselves

What about anti-aliasing settings? I found that these caused problems for me when set incorrectly, producing pink surfaces. I have a Radeon 9700 pro though, so it might not apply. Try changing them in ati control panel to application preference...or if they are set to this, change them to...say....4x and ensure that the ingame setting correspond. I'm not exactly an expert at this, but try it....if it doesn't help change the settings back.

I've got the same card and drivers as you do, but the textures seem to be just fine for me.

I have the same problem as you. It only happens in levels like aztec and dust. When I look at specific parts of the level with a high texture setting I get unsufferable lag. I had to drop the texture settings down a notch and it ran fine. I havn't found a fix so I just run it at a lower setting.

I don`t own an ATI card but doesn`t the 4.10 forces full trilinear filtering?

I had the same thing on my Radeon9600, the pink/purply surfaces. Mostly appeared on the specular surfaces. This problem only occured after enabling AntiAliasing though, and iirc, it only happened when i enabled AA during gameplay. If i enabled it outside of gameplay, then went into gameplay, surfaces ingame wouldn't have the discoloration, no matter what setting of AA i had set the game to.

Could you maybe show us some screenshots of the problem?
