Video Card question. Preapologizing if this is a repost. But for the money, which 9600 would have the most bang for the buck?
9600
the XT
or SE?

And what's the difference?

buy a refurb 9800 pro at newegg.com :D for around 160-170

yeah, 9600's are mid range cards now, mid/high is 9800 and it doesnt cost much more, infact the 9800 pro costs less or the same as the 9600XT.

9600 XT is the best of them. And VeZ, the low dollar 9800 pros are often of a crappy brand.

Actually, the 9800 pros which are inexpensive and about the same price as a 9600XT, are basically bad brands. Why waste money on a bad brand and buy a 9800 pro that screws up when overclocking when you can buy a 9600XT of a very good brand and overclock it as much as a 9800?

you will never be able to get a 9600Xt as fast as a 9800pro with air cooling.

Id rather have a "crappy" 9800pro.

My friend gonna buy a R9800XT for only 209$!!! He's getting it from a friend of his father! :)

my 9800 pro is Saphire, highly regarded as a good brand in Britain, it was only 120 pounds... about 200 dollars?

Yup, the Sapphire 9800 pro's are great and only $200, good deal. But I like the MSI 9800 pro's too, they use the R360 core so they're really 9800xt's just underclocked. You can fix change it back to a 9800xt easily. Some people only had to use ATi's drivers instead of MSI and it was recognized as a 9800xt. Oh and Octavian you can get a refurb 9800 pro on newegg for $165 and it's a Sapphire.

MUCH better than a 9600xt.

Did you buy it separately? If you bought a computer and it came with it, it'll be made by ATi, so it's first party, and it's good.

I bought my computer, but I picked which parts go where (ie: I did not go to future shop; I went to a private small company and told the guys what I wanted); I also got a seperate 9800 PRO box with it, it has the ATI logo on it and all, but doesn't matter since I don't plan to overclock until stalker comes out.

Never buy a SE or a LE...or a Celeron.
9600XT would be a good pick but a 9800 Pro would be a far better pick.

Yeah it's made by ATi, first party.

A refurbished card is hardly worth the $30 you save. Maybe its me but ill just spend an extra 30 and get a 9800 that I can flash to an XT, seems like the best bang for the buck.

Merry Merry 200th :bounce:  :farmer:  :afro: :smoking: :p
