Well, I've tried just about everything I can think of, and still getting a ridiculous number of crashes. Crashes out of the menu, freezes up in game various ways.. etc. Almost always requires a reboot. I don't know if this is my hardware or if it's just Steam. (Pretty sure it's Steam... I also got these crashes when I tried to play Opposing Forces..) I don't know if anyone else is having these problems, but it's getting ridiculous.. trying a full steam re-install now.

Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB

P2.4 ghz

Which Cat's are you using? When did this start happening, did you have another card before the 9800pro?

The 4.9's for XP... this card is the only one this computer has had.

Hmm I've only got a couple suggestions for you.

1) Turn Fastwrites off in the driver control panel and make sure that VPU recover is on.
2) Lower you clock settings with ATI Tool, you see maybe the temps are too high (although you'd probably see some sort of curroption).
3) Use drivercleaner, then reinstall using Omega's or DNA's.
4) If all the problems continue you may have to look at reinstalling windows. If that doesn't work it's your card. Contact ATI and talk to them about it

Hope that helps.

Where do you access drivercleaner, where do you get Omegas?

Fastwrite being off appears to **** up my comp and make it crash tons.. don't know why.

My CPU is at like 34 degrees Celsius, and my Mobo is at like.. 49 degrees.

make sure fast write is off in bios to. Also delete the ATI or Nvidia drivers from add & remove programs then look in windows explorer and remove the Nvidia or ATI folder then restart and install the 4.9 cat drivers.
