Latley I've been interested in purchasing my ti4600 for a radeon. I browsed google, and discovered that the clock speeds for the 9800 and 9800 pro are different. I really do not know how much of a difference it will exactly make (I'm asumming not $100 dollars worth of difference...)

Take a look at the prices at http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=1&submit=Go&description=radeon,9800,pro

SAPPHIRE OEM ATI RADEON 9800SE 128MB Non Pro DVI/TV 8X AGP BULK for less then $200. Is getting the non pro for $100 dollars less worth it? How dramatically will it affect performance?

Thanks for your time everyone :)

The 9800SE is NOT the 9800 or 9800 Pro, that's a third card! Its the budget variant (crippled in speed). The difference between the two mentioned is that the Pro clocks higher and thus is faster. Personally I dont really think its worth the extra money, the 9800 should easily overclock to near Pro speeds.

dawdler,do you think that the 9800XT is just going to be an exact 9800 with higher clock speeds? I can clock mine to 445/390... the front page says it's going to be like 415 core..

I honestly dont know. 9800XT is a confusing concept... Keep in mind, overclocking a 9800 WILL reduce its life. The 9800XT (just like the 9800 itself over 9700) will probably feature slimmed chip design to last at that speed. Personally, I see this core being easily able to do what you have, around 450/400, with the additions of ramsinks and better cooling (or take the FX full case cooling :)), and still last a long time... Its odd that no maker thinks of it. ATI knows its limits, they could make it like that from the beginning.
But as I said, I honestly dont know.
