I just got my 9800pro, and to test it out i played far cry on high settings. But it was choppy, so I put it to medium settings and it still was a bit choppy in some areas. Is it because far cry was designed for nvidia or my computer?

Will happen in FarCry since it is very system dependant.

I have the same card, 3.0ghz cpu and 512 DDR 333mhz ram and I CAN run it on highest everything (no AA or AF though) but thanks to my sound card, i get a stutter when I fire my gun, open a door, or there is an explosion. If I turn the texture quality to medium, it kind of goes away, but it's still there a bit. In anycase, it's probably a RAM issue. If you want to run with everything highest, 1024mb RAM is pretty much required as well.

Yeah, I had the same problems when I had 512 MB of RAM. I upgraded to a gig and it all went away!

well, i had 512mb with a fx 5600 256mb, i ran far cry with everything on low 800x600 (seriously) at aprox. 35 fps
after i upgraded to 1gb, i now run it 800x600 everything medium except for lighting and shadows (cuz the 5600 suz at that yall know) at 35 fps, if i put lighting on medium, it f**** up and i can't play, i get around 15 fps outside and 10 max inside... what a crappy card... hopefully i'm getting a 9800pro 128mb soon!!!!

well, the point is, having 1gb of ram really helps on the graphics, i recommend having that.

you...cant have ddr sdram....can you?........no...i dont think so?.....ummm....but yea its more than likely sdram, not ddr. if it was ddr u would be able to run at high detail.

DDR just describes SDRAM as being Double Data Rate.
SDR SDRAM would be Single Data Rate.
The SDR in SDRAM does not mean Single Data Rate but Synchronous Dynamic RAM.
