Hey all. I'm new on the modelling scene, and not very experienced... and i want to show you all this model to get some feedback on how i could improve my modelling skills.

It is a basic laser pistol, not much detail, and not optimised yet.

At the moment the model is 244 faces, and 596 triangles.

(finally the images should be working! lol)

they're all little thumbnails of something that says hotlinked.

The pictures should be working now, so what do you all think?

lol, now they're just thumbnails that say hotlinked from excoboard.com with

I finally got the images to work! lol

So now the pictures really do show up! what does everyone think?

Well, the design is horrible, you need to just draw it out and get the design down and looking good and then model it.

Try looking at real guns and movie guns and see how they're designed. Think of how the gun is supposed to function, and model it accordingly.

i think that it looks pretty cool.

its a laser gun right? so it doesn't have to look like an existing weapon does it??

Thanks for the comments, i'll try drawing it out before modelling next time.

And yep it is a lasergun... so i didnt add all the things modern guns need.

it looks pretty good (much better than i could do...). perhaps you could make the handle slightly more predominant.

mad-larking ... it doesnt really matter what the projectile is guns have to follow a bi of design theory ...
first off the handle is too flat to be able to hold it firmly .... no grip on it

i think you should move the trigger down. It just doesnt look right cutting off the barrel like that.

I would also put a back sight in, because a front sight is kinda useless with nothing to line up with.

Otherwise, looks like a pretty good concept. Maybe come up with some details here and there to round it off.

Good luck!

I'm not into modelling...(waiting for iichi's new tutorial before I learn) but that just doesnt look good. It looks like it was made out of nothing but some squares and whatnot. Try again :)
