A few newbie questions

Does Steam update ALL THE TIME? Its always updating, it never stops. When it finishes, it starts updating again. How many updates are there?

Why does Steam never ever give me the same server list twice?
Sometimes theres a hundred servers listed, sometimes its 20, sometimes it cant find any at all.
What the hell?

I play Natural Selection an it kinda stuffs up - I cant use my pistol, my knife, the pop up menu has corrupted textures, never happed on WON.
WEIRD!

Well anyway, I think Steam is pretty cool, but its annoying at the same time.

Well anyway, I think Steam is pretty cool, but its annoying at the same time.

if you want to stop it from updating, goto the monitor and see what its updating and then go into the properties of the game and set it to not update automatically.

as for natual selection, its not fully steam compliant, i believe the NS team is working on a patch.

jebus fu.k Steam sucks ass - I had the worst game ever in my life just then, I couldnt speak, I couldnt use my weapons, Steam took 5 minutes to connect on a 10megabit connection, ammo was impossible to get, and to top it all off my gamma was way too high.
And to change my bloody gamma, I have to reconnect to the server.
F.cking incredible.

leave steam updating overnight or dl the 700 meg version

think they should release small downloads like the 2-6 mb updates, easier and faster rather than updating through steam imo
