As you all know I just got a new computer about a week ago and it runs great :). I can even run BF1942 with full graphics and 6xAA / 16xAF and it is still as smooth as ever. But there are a few things that I want to know.

In my video card's options (Radeon 9800 Pro 128) I have two different settings in which I can turn AA and AF on in. The first is OpenGL and the second is Direct3D. I put both on 6xAA and 16xAF. When I put those settings on in Direct3D all the text in BF1942 looks horrible. Its all messed up and crappy looking. Same with Half-Life and all its mods if I put Direc3D on in that. Is there a way I can get the text back to normal without having to turn off my AA/AF?

Also for Half-Life which is better looking (graphics whise) OpenGL or Direct3D?

I'll post a few pics of what the text looks like in a few hours.

For HL, I beleive OpenGL is the best. Or at least, it was that last time I played. D3D hardly worked. Havent tried it lately, as I still cant join any of the steam servers.

Concerning BF1942: Its just the way it is. Something was done wrong, it obviously isnt an issue in a majority of games. Lower resolution to get bigger text, that's the only solution I see. But then I suggest using higher resolution and lower FSAA instead. You dont really have any need for 6x anyway, 2x is just fine most of the time, you will hardly notice the differences in a game you move alot in.
