Car accident. Got hit by a drunk driver.

To make things even more surreal, she had literally just dropped off another one of my very good friends right before it happened.

I've never had a personal friend of mine die before, and she was only 17, just about to turn 18. I'm also in Indiana, far away from anyone else who knew her.

This sucks, hard

Jesus, that's like one of the worst possible ways to die, ****ing horrible.

Hope you don't get real beaten down by this tragedy man, that's really shitty.

What happened to the drunk guy?

Dude i'm sorry....
I live in Indiana as well
I've not had any personal friends die so i would not know quite that feeling
Sorry...

He's in custody right now, I saw his mugshot and it made me ****ing sick. I couldn't even finish the article, they went into too much detail about what happened..Hopefully they throw his pathetic worthless ass in jail for a loong time.

She wasn't really a BEST friend of mine, she was just someone who I knew from a writers camp I took a couple of years ago, and we hit it off pretty well. I'd see her around from time to time and we always stayed friendly. The last time I saw her was like three weeks ago.

Her boyfriend is in the hospital right now, I can't imagine how he's feeling..

**** me, for someone so young to die like that all because of a drunk irresponsible asshole, it's the ****ing epitomy of rage-inducing tragedy. My god.

Real shitty, I really don't get people who drink and drive.

Being drunk gives you a slight superiority complex, and sometimes when you mix that with blatant stupidy (see: the vast majority of drunk drivers who get caught in this shit) you get bad results

Sorry to hear that man. Such a pointless, and preventable accident.

It's so sad. My friend died drinking and driving almost 10 years ago. Luckily he didn't hurt anyone else - just a tree. He was like 17 too. I went to the funeral and his friends and family were absolutely devastated. It was heartbreaking.

Happens.
It's going to happen more as you get older- learn a way to deal with the pain.

I, luckily, haven't had anyone close to me die... my step dad's brother and his old neighbor(his best friend a long time ago) both died recently, and now his mom has a head tumor. It sucks, but I don't know ANY of them so it doesn't really affect me.

No, it's really more like.

"holy shit, I need to get out of here, NOW"

"but i'm drunk, so I shouldn't drive..."

"but if I stay here i'll get in a lot of trouble..."

*turns keys*

Your brain bypasses the whole "people might die" thing, because well... You're drunk.

And then you sober up and think "my god, I shouldn't have done that. Somebody might have died".

Only "angry drunks" (read: Rizzo) have a superiority complex when they're drunk.

But yeah. The pain will go away. It always does, and eventually with time, these things stop fazing you so much.

Had my dad, uncle, grandpa, grandma, great grandpa, great gradma, and a whole bunch of others go on me. Time heals all wounds...

Man, that's horrible. Sigh... not much I can say, save for stay strong, stay safe.

****ing douchebag driver...:flame:

Sorry dude.;(

This is what the police should do anywhere...

If there is a car accident and the driver who caused it was drunk, high or whatever and they kill someone in the accident, the police should be allowed clearance to put a bullet in his brain.

Fair enough I think :flame:

That's really terrible. Sorry for your loss.

I try to avoid being in an automobile or around automobiles as much as I can.

Personally I would love to live in an area where only the most responsible and safest drivers, no matter how fast they do drive, have access to automobiles.

Sure as we begin there is an end. Unfortunately no one makes it out alive.

I hate reading shit like this. Makes me hate the world even more.

That's terrible. I had a friend who died a couple of years ago, and the worst feeling was seeing her mother. She was a total wreck.
Yeah, wreckless drivers in general are dangerous. Not only the drunk ones.
"oh im late so trafic rules don't apply to me"

That's absolutely horrifying. The thought of losing a friend seems absolutely insane to me.

That is really horrible :(
I lost a friend of mine two years ago... and she died the same way your friend died, hit by a drunk driver... ;(

My friend's Ma died not to long ago from breast cancer. She's getting along well, and she's a tough girl. I'm sure you'll be fine. My apologies.

I'm so sorry. I wish I could do something more...

There are few things I hate more than drunk drivers. Its just so ****ing irresponsible, and you're putting innocent lives in danger for absolutely no god damned reason. It pisses me off so much seeing things like this. My condolences Slacker. Make sure you help your friend out.

I've been talking with her, and while she's obvioulsy not in the best of shape, she's taking it unbelievably well. Everyone I've talked to who knew her is in the same state of mind as me, just really confused and blown away that something this tragic could happen to someone we were close to.

I think I'm doing ok though. I'm remembering the fact that while she died ridiculously young, she lived a really awesome, albeit short life. My bigges regret is the fact that the last time I saw her, about three weeks ago, I barely talked to her. I feel horrible about that.

Don't bro, you didn't know it would have happened.

I'm a shoulder to cry on if you have AIM.

So sorry mate, world is full of twats that should be behind bars rather than behind a wheel. My condolences :(

ah hell, i meant nothing by it. Her mother was really upset becouse her daughter just died in an accident. No pun for a car wreck.

I didn't even notice that until it was pointed out, hah. But yeah, no harm no foul.

I learned last night that her funeral service is the day before I get home from visiting family. Shiiiit.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :< Too many inconsiderate assholes out there fs.

...and yet another black mark on drinking/those who drink responsibly. I think far more strict policies should be in place for those who kill another because of drunk driving. Like execution.
I have a good friend I've known for years who occasionally drinks and drives, and I chew his big ass out everytime he does too, because how can I be friends with someone who is so inconsiderate as to put other people's lives in danger? In theory, how can I trust someone enough to call them "friends" who doesn't even care about the well-being of people he doesn't even know?

I just hope your pulling yourself together though this ok. Your other friends who were also close to her will need someone strong to help pull them through. As a friend, just be sure to be there for them in their time of need ok? :>
