A hint about G-man in op4s

So, if the G-Man ISN'T working for the Admin, then who are his mysterious "employers."

The G-Man working for the Admin and sending Gordon into City 17 makes perfect sense. Gordon is being sent into City 17 to infiltrate the rebels. He probably isn't TOLD this flat-out...remember that the G-Man manipulates, and rarely would be so straight-forward...but the fact that so many of Gordon's old allies are now part of this underground revolution (Eli, Barney, Kleiner, etc) would mean that Gordon would be accepted without question.

If I were to guess (and it IS a guess...I've avoided reviews and leaked plot points), I would assume that the G-Man is using Gordon and the rebels to take on a specific threat. Just like he used the marines as cannon fodder in HL, he's using the rebels in HL2.

My theory is that the Gman knew that Breen would probably ditch him, but he always knew he'd need Gordon.

The solution? Send Adrian as a filler for Gordon, to Breen.

I thought Breen was your nemesis in HL2. But I could be wrong.

Whats with the gman bieng your nemesis? Theres no indication to him bieng your enemy. Yes, breen is the nemesis in half life 2.

*Since you havnt read any reviews Bing_oh...you might not want to read this*

And before you start yes, i have read the script, but i take all my info from whats been seen in trailers, screens and whats been said.

However gman workign with the admin doesnt make perfect sense, simply because they would probably know he would join up with his friends.

"Wake up mr freeman....wake up and..smell the ashes." this intones the world is in chaos, and you are needed. (pc gamer review)

Gabe: "Alot of citizens are gearign up about the strenght of gordon freeman."

We see, in most vids, Gordon fightign the combine. Wowsers infiltrating the rebels went well. The plot overview for half life 2 even indicates that gman and breen arnt workign with each other.

Breen mentions benefactors, these are quite obviously the combine (listen to what he says in tenemants video) and even gabe said dr breen is doing what he thinks is best for mankind.

Now just because the gman mentioned "employers" doesnt mean to say breen is his employer, that would be pathetic. He may have even been lying when he said that, you simply dont know.

To put it simply...the gman and Dr Breen are not allies, this is quite clear.

I'm not sure why anyone would consider a man who give you the ultimatium of, basically, "work for me or die" (like the G-Man did at the end of HL) as a friend.

Not a friend but I think he still does mean you well.

we will have to wait for hl2 and see for our self.
but i think he is a friend...

but look at this: in hl1, op4 he knew everyhing. we walked through black messa with no problem at all... HOW???
and my wild theory is:
maybe he is a resistance fighter send from the future to make things right (this sounds like Terminator1 :) )

i mean, he closed door to adrian at choper scene... i think he knew what will adrian do, and he needed another great "speciment" for upcoming battles

ell i think the g man controllys the vortgonts because the vortigunt was watching him on tv and i think he mae them join the humans wats ur thoughts on this

I think he ment that the Vortigaunts are under G-man's control... w/c in fact isn't true. The Vort only joined the human forces to make revenge on the Combines that once enslaved them. :smoking:

I think he does control the vorts for some reason, in the same way he controls Gordon.
Incidentally, it's not "Zen", it's Xen.

Perhaps he's controlling the Vorts through Gordon? Since Gordon liberated the Vorts, they are now loyal to him and treat him like a Messiah, yet Gordon is pretty much just a pawn for the G-Man. See the connection?

Of course... Breen is the pawn of the combines... while Gordon is the pawn of G-man.

so they are all pawns but the gman is the real controler :flame:

I seriously doubt that Shephard was kept alive just out of sympathy. Let's not forget, the G-Man is a great manipulator. He went out of his way to keep Adrian alive, while throwing away the lives of numerous others at Black Mesa.

The G-Man was, clearly, looking for adaptable people in Black Mesa for his own purposes. He found not just one, but two...Gordon and Adrian. Gordon was his prime candidate...there are indications that Gordon was being watched by the G-Man and the Administrator long before the Resonance Cascade (and, some theorize that the Resonance Cascade was cause intentionally to test Gordon). I think Adrian was just a lucky catch for the G-Man...but one he was willing to exploit and "collect" when it was all over.

My theory, exactly.

:sniper: yes with all kidden aside there can be an h man or a q man
